Our large home made of Wissahickon schist is on a lovely, tree-lined street in the West Mount Airy section of Philadelphia. Fairmount Park with its many trails, the local train to Center City, and the neighborhood food cooperative and coffee shop are within a few blocks.
Our house is spacious and comfortable. On the first floor, there is a formal living room where fires blaze in the fireplace during the winter. The dining room has a large table with ten upholstered chairs, hardwood floors, and traditional wallcoverings. The kitchen has been updated with granite countertops, Fisher & Paykel appliances, and numerous coffee devices. The kitchen is adjacent to a breakfast room/TV area. (There is only one TV in our home with cable.)
Our family inhabits the second floor of the house however, the third floor is available to our guests. There is one major bedroom with a queen and a single bed and a bathroom just outside of the door. The bathroom has a shower, toilet, and sink.
While we house our cars in the garage, there is one remaining space in the driveway for a vehicle. Additionally, there is ample on-street parking on either side of the street. We have a lovely backyard with a gas grill, chairs, wind sculptures. There is a sun room with adjacent terraces.
Accès des voyageurs
Our guests will have access to the kitchen if needed. There is ample space to refrigerate perishables.
Échanges avec les voyageurs
We are very social people and can interact as much or as little as our guests desire.
Our house was the first home to the famous von Trapp family upon their arrival in the United States in 1938. We would be happy to share some of the memorabilia with you.
No smoking within the house. No pets, please. We keep a tidy kitchen so, we expect that if you make a mess, you will clean it up!
