À propos de ce logement
Whatley is a lovely house set on its own just outside Beaminster, it has its own tennis court and duck pond. It sleeps eight with ease and is walking distance from Beaminster.
Whatley is a wonderful family home in the heart of the idyllic Dorset countryside. It sleeps eight with ease, and is lovely, comfortable and spacious. There are four large bedrooms with two twin rooms, one double and one master king-size & en suite bathroom. There is also a family bathroom and separate loo. There are two further put-up beds for extra guests, who are very welcome.
Downstairs, the large kitchen is light and airy and perfect for entertaining. There is a family dining room, and a huge drawing room. The conservatory is a real sun trap and is big enough to play ping pong whenever the mood takes you. Outside there is a fantastic all-weather tennis court and a lovely trout pond with jumping fish! The house is surrounded by gardens with beautiful flower beds, and if you feel moved to indulge in a bit of weeding you would be most welcome. The large patio opens out from the drawing room and is furnished with a table and chairs, and there is also a barbeque in the shed where the full sized ping pong tale also lives. If you are a fan of ultra-modern decoration and minimalism Whatley may not be the place for you, however, if you would like a tranquil place where you can see the stars at night, where rabbits hop around the garden and badgers rummage about behind the tennis court, then this is the ideal place for you.
It is set on its own, surrounded by fields just a five minute walk from Beaminster town centre, with its range of restaurants, including an excellent Indian take away, and many independent shops. It is a ten-fifteen minute drive from the market town of Bridport and Jurassic coast of West Bay. There are the most wonderful walks along the coast and a fabulous golf course, and you can also hire a boat and go mackerel fishing. The water can be chilly, but once you get in, the swimming at West Bay is a memory to be treasured. West Bay was the setting for the TV series Broadchurch, so some of you will already know how beautiful the coast is. It is also a ten minute drive from Crewkerne with more shops and a Waitrose!
West Dorset is Hardy country and you can follow in the footsteps of Tess as she comes down into Emminster ( Beaminster) for her ill-fated meeting with Angel's parents - we like to think she must have come right past Whatley.
We welcome well-behaved pets, and the same goes for people!

The whole house and garden will be yours for the duration of your stay as is the tennis court, the duck pond is deep water and we do ask people to keep unsupervised children away.

Leigh and Lorna who look after the place live in a separate cottage on the property they will be happy to help with any problems. There will also be an information book in the house which hopefully will cover all information relevant to your stay.
Dorset is a wonderful county with beautiful walks and a fantastic coastline I have said a lot about the area in my earlier description so I will not repeat myself here, suffice to say that I think that a holiday taken at Whatley will be a good one. We love the place.
There is a train station at Crewkerne and there are buses to Crewkerne and Bridport from Beaminster town centre there is masses of parking at Whatley, the only thing we request is that you do not rely on sat nav to get there ( you would regret it!) and instead rely on the directions you will be given when you book.
There is a dish washer but there is no washing machine as Leigh has it! She might be persuaded to do a wash if needed. There is a Rayburn that will be on in the winter months and can be turned on if it is cold at any time. Again Leigh might be needed for this.
We ask you not to smoke in the house please, and again to be wary of the duck pond. Also could you please keep any pets downstairs .
