This is an 1800 square foot, luxury two bedroom apartment home in an historic lodge in one of the safest and most upscale neighborhoods in all of Hendersonville, North Carolina. This lodge is located in Laurel Park, known locally as the town on the mountainside. This historic lodge was once located on a beautiful mountain lake where folks from many surrounding states vacationed to swim and enjoy some of the first water slides in North Carolina. Today, there is a smaller 3-acre lake, which is now surrounded by a nature park. This apartment home has a wonderful view of this lake and the lovely historic homes of the lower Laurel Park community. Ascending this mountain community are some very luxurious mountain homes, bed and breakfasts, and gorgeous neighborhoods. At the top of this mountain lies a beautiful park called Jump-Off Rocks with spectacular panoramic views to communities hidden in the surrounding Appalachian Mountains. This park has great picnic areas and scenic trails favored by the locals and visitors. From this apartment home you can leisurely watch the ducks, egrets, geese, and other waterfowl frolic in Lake Rhododendron; so named for the lovely Rosebay and Catawba Rhododendron, with their lovely lavender blooms profusely blooming in the summer time. Locals have been known to catch some sizable bass and panfish in this small lake. You can view a waterfall within walking distance in this neighborhood and enjoy a stroll along lovely homes to historic downtown Laurel Park or Hendersonville. Take a walk in the nature park and enjoy the birds that frequent it, and possibly catch site of a bluebird that has called one of the nesting boxes their family home. The lake is soon to be dredged so that swimming can again become a favored summer activity. The locals take pride in their landscapes and so you can enjoy a display of flowering yards all summer long, which do indeed include the town’s name stake, the gorgeous mountain laurel. A neighboring park has swings and a wonderful children’s play area where many local town activities such as the Easter egg hunt or events such as the apple or strawberry festivals are annually held. Laurel Park and the Hendersonville area is known for its many apple orchards, strawberry and organic farming. This home has the same owners and management as (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) #574320, Molly’s Ridgetop Cabin Retreat in Asheville, North Carolina. Teresa and I are Asheville, North Carolina residents. Teresa is an Asheville native and Larry is from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, but has lived in the area for just over 15 years. We were married just over a year ago and we met at our place of work. Larry is a Landscape Architect employed with the National Park Service on Blue Ridge Parkway. Teresa is a fee collection specialist with the Blue Ridge Parkway. Both Larry and Teresa are experienced apartment and vacation home managers. We also own #574320, Molly's Ridgetop Cabin Retreat in Asheville. We are offering package specials should a guest wish to rent both the vacation homes as the same time or successively. We plan to stay in the area during our upcoming retirement and travel as opportunity allows. One of Larry’s hobbies is watercolor painting of local landscape scenes and his paintings are displayed in the home and in some local art galleries. Teresa is a part time jewelry maker, which is just one of her favorite hobbies. She has displayed her jewelry in local shops and galleries and has made many special pieces for her friends. Teresas’ father was a successful oil painter and a well know sign painter. Teresa also enjoys painting contemporary pieces, which she hopes to display in the home and local galleries. We both enjoy photography and hiking the trails of the local area. Being very familiar with the Blue Ridge Parkway we feel we can offer a wealth of information of places to see and things to do along America’s favorite drive. We have explored the entire area and offer a wealth of information in the home about the places to go, things to see, and the many fun things to do that this area has to offer. We enjoy meeting our guests, but we also understand the value of privacy that most guests enjoy. Larry has a son who is a local Chef and he has consulted with us to provide what he believe most guests would want to have in the kitchen for small or large private meals.
