Spacious bsmt efficiency apt. w/private entrance on minifarm in serene woods near Falls Lake. Lake views. Walking access to Mountains-to-Sea Trail. Minutes from Duke, Durham, airport, RTP, Brier Creek amenities. 10 minutes to I-85.
If you are looking for a vacation or business travel spot that is close to Durham and RTP but has the quiet of the country then we invite you to enjoy our place! The 10 acre farm is nestled in the forest adjacent to the game lands around Falls Lake. Two horses, four dogs, and four cats live an easy life on the property. The landscaping encourages butterflies, dragonflies and birds. Guest quarters are a private entrance, spacious, walk-out basement.
5 miles to I-85 and 10 miles to downtown Durham (Duke University, American Tobacco Campus, Durham Bulls). 30 minutes to RDU Airport and 20 minutes to RTP. Convenient to shopping and restaurants around Brier Creek. The Mountains to Sea Trail access is a short hike through the park on a blaze-marked trail.
In the country without city lights, the nights are dark. Stars are quite visible. On clear, bright moon nights, the moon reflects in the lake and casts shadows from the trees, casting shadows on the ground. Security lights provide light to walk to and from your vehicle.
There is an exercise bike in the space for guests who would like to work out inside.
We provide a selection of snacks to welcome you when you arrive.

Échanges avec les voyageurs
This is a private apartment with a private entrance. We are happy to help out as much as possible to make your stay in this private space enjoyable.
Interaction depends on the guest's interest. Generally, the guest may come and go as they please without interaction. We are usually around during your stay and more than happy to show you around the farm and introduce you to the dogs and horses - or recommend places to see or visit. Our usual position is to stay out of your way and let you enjoy your accommodations.
On the other hand, PLEASE don't hesitate to make us aware of something you need, or we missed, at any point during your stay. We aim to please and attain and keep a 5 star rating. We'd appreciate feedback on our place and how we can make it even better.
Let us know if you are here for a special occasion and we can assist getting any special supplies (champagne, flowers, etc.) here in advance.
Cell phone service is spotty at the location.
No cable TV provided.
For guests staying longer than a week, we provide fresh sheets and laundered towels weekly. Guests are otherwise responsible to keep the place tidy and clean up after themselves.
We love animals so we're sorry to say it, but we can't accept guest pets. We can't be flexible about this. Not only are the resident dogs bothered by having other 4-footed visitors in their home, but us humans also have had an unpleasant experience accommodating pets who were then left unattended.
To ensure everyone's safety and security, we like to know who is on the property. We must pre-approve guests who visit and/or stay over who are not part of your initial reservation. We will require them to register and show a photo ID.
Before booking with us, please let us know of any special requirements (allergies, fragrance sensitivities).
We have a septic system so only human waste can be flushed or put down the drain (no dental floss, grease, feminine products, paper towels, coffee grounds and such please.)
We recycle and ask our guest to do that, too, while visiting. We provide a green-colored recycling bin for this purpose. Also, Durham has an ordinance making it unlawful to place recyclables in the garbage.
Please admire the horses from afar. Horses are very large, athletic, unpredictable animals so guests must never interact with them without us being there to supervise it. This is for your own safety and any violation of this rule is at your own risk. Thanks for understanding. We want your stay to be enjoyable and safe!
We do not require a damage deposit but guests will be responsible for the reasonable and documented cost to repair all damage to the furnishings, walls, floors, ceilings, fixtures -or to replace it if repair is not possible.
I'm clean, quiet and neat. Animals and nature are among my favorite things. I love trying new things, going new places and meeting new people. I'm thrilled when I can provide a top notch experience for guests.
When I travel, I like to get to know the place and its culture, eat local food, use public transportation when available.
