À propos de ce logement

Le logement

The large bedroom is central in the upstairs apartment and affords sitting space plus a large table for working or eating in. The bedroom feature king-sized memory foam beds and high thread count, all cotton sheets. The windows are large and allow a lot of natural light in during the day, but draperies afford privacy at night.

A total of two bedrooms are available in the top floor apartment of this 1890s brick home. The apartment also contains a living room, a full, eat-in kitchen, a shared bathroom, and a laundry room. If both bedrooms are booked by the same party, the entire apartment is available for use. If separate parties book the two bedrooms, then the open areas of the apartment are shared. The bedrooms and bathroom lock for security.

Breakfast is when you want it from food provided in the kitchen. Juice, coffee, hot or dry cereal, yogurt, and fresh fruit are typical. Prior to your stay, you will be asked for preferences so you have what you like. A microwave, toaster, toaster oven, coffee maker and coffee bean grinder, a stove, and a fridge are available in the kitchen.

Mavhouse is located in the Lowertown Arts District. The house occupies a corner lot with deep mixed perennial, conifer, and shrub borders on two sides. Many unusual plants make the gardens interesting year round, from the riot of spring bulbs to the Christmas roses (Hellebores) beginning to bloom in December and lasting for months. Guided tours of the garden are available to those interested.

The house is what I call casually formal, as we are not formal people but live in a semi-formal house. It is filled with art, as we are in the arts district and have a family of artists. I love to cook, so for extended stays, expect at least one dinner invitation.

There is public transit available, and the neighborhood is so warm and inviting. We have regular artists in residence, whom we "mother" a bit, so count on lots of help finding things, getting places, or just getting the scope on what's up. Galleries and studios are on most of the nearby streets, waiting for you to stop in.

This was our second time staying at the Mav House. We have found the home to be a nice retreat, convenient to walk in the downtown area, while accessible to other areas of town. The home is beautiful and Anita is a great host who makes you feel welcome in her home. We also love that our dog (small, nonshedding, hypoallergenic) was just as welcome as we are! There is a second room on the floor and although there was a guest there, we still had privacy. One thing to know is that there is one bathroom on the floor, which is shared, but thankfully we didn't have any issues. We love the lovely art work in the home and the hospitality of the host, room is very comfortable and you have access to full kitchen and parlor.

Beautiful bedroom, great living space, and right in the Lower Town Arts district. A great coffeehouse, Etcetera, is a 2 and 1/2 block walk. Try the Spanish latte!

Anita's house is from the 19th century and has two large, comfortable bedrooms upstairs that share an upstairs common living room and well-equipped kitchen as well as a commodious bathroom. We found this arrangement entirely convenient and very satisfactory, chatting over our morning coffee with the pleasant guests staying in the other room. The rooms are nicely furnished with era-appropriate furniture and the king-size bed is extremely comfortable. Anita is a warm and welcoming host with whom it's a pleasure to chat. We enjoyed our stay a great deal. Her house is well-located for a visit to the extraordinary National Quilt Museum and for taking advantage of the surprisingly lively food and culture scene of Paducah.

The bed was very comfortable and room was spacious, Yes you did have a common bathroom shared between two room, potentially total of 4 people. Spacious and mostly private the second floor with a sitting room and kitchen. I also was able to use the laundry since I had been on the road for 2 weeks.

Anita's lovely historic home is delightful - full of art and surrounded by lovely gardens, I felt like I had come home. Anita is a thoughtful host. This was my first trip to Paducah, and she helped me with recommendations that were spot on. My room was beautifully appointed with period antiques, and had an extremely comfortable bed. with a great selection of pillows. The kitchen had everything I needed, the parlor was comfy. I could not have imagined a better place to stay.

The house was so beautiful and comfortable. The host was so welcoming and helpful. She has beautiful artwork throughout the apartment with thoughtful details for her guests. I travelled in February but I would love to see her gardens in summer and fall as I am certain they are lovely in full bloom. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay for travellers. It's located close to downtown but it's so quiet. Street parking was easy and readily available. It's a steal for the price!

This home is in a great area- walk to the Quilt Museum, shops and restaurants. the bed was very comfortable and breakfast was just as we requested. We were the only ones there, so the upstairs was all ours. We would return!

I am a retired university professor and administrator, first from the University of Southern Mississippi, then from Lambuth University in Jackson, Tennessee when that school closed in 2011. I have also worked as a research specialist and as a public school teacher. I would find retirement extremely trying were it not for being the caregiver and coach to my newest granddaughter, Wren, who is a source of constant delight.

I also am a fanatic gardener and write articles for gardening magazines. I love writing of all sorts and have published a few poems, several textbooks, and articles. To fill the void in my report-writing life, I volunteer with the Paducah Civic Beautification Board and the Paducah Arts Alliance, the group responsible for creating an artist-in-residence program for the city.

Cooking is another love, especially big meals with lots of company. My children and friends like to call these events "feasts," and that is a good description. In the coming season I will be extending my back yard tomato patch into a kitchen garden, as the whole family loves fresh things to eat.

When not cooking, writing, caring for my granddaughter, or managing Mavhouse, I love needlework. Mostly I knit, but occasionally I will spend extended periods of time with counted cross stitch.
