This was okay. If you just prefer sleeping place with affordable price, this suits you. Just get your expectations lower.

You truly get what you pay for. With p500/night, don't have high expectations. With that amount, you get a small room, flush of toilet not working, no towels, no soap, no tissue rolls, no sachet of shampoo, no blanket, no elevator (it's a challenge if you have a big and heavy luggage and your room is at the 4th floor). If these luxuries don't matter to you, you just need a place to sleep, then staying at Berlay's would be fine.

This is not a 5 star hotel, the value is excellent. The place was clean, the AC worked well, the WI-FI was strong and fast.

Sad., although they will set your expectations, but I still hoped for something better. This is literally, getting what you pay for. Firstly, I would like to let EVERYONE realize that may it be P500 or P600 - still this amount is a hard earned money. In Manila, the cheapest motel that you can get for 300-500 gives you with bed with an acceptable bedding, simple toiletries and acceptable blanket. (When I say acceptable bedding, tamang kapal naman and presentable. It doesn't have to be fancy) The room that we got is the P600. I understand the size. For everything else... Very sad. Anyway, I will have my full review with photos and video at Trip Advisor. Hey, sure rate matters. But please even if you are just a back packer you deserve a GOOD SLEEP TO PREP FOR YOUR CLIMB

500 pesos for motel rates is every 3 hours. Our 500 pesos is 24 hours. Our blankets are for tropical rooms. We do not provide comforters as the cost of its laundry would exceed the 500 pesos per day. Next time, have a right budget for your classy needs.

Had to upgrade to a bigger room. The room had a FOUL smell. The receptionist was just a kid that knows nothing about customer service. Placed charcoal to remove the odor but still no good. I only stayed inside the room for 10 minutes and left. It's not a five star which I know for it's rate but it should have been at least clean and no foul smell inside the room.

You said the room smelled of cigarettes from the previous users which unfortunately, we had the misfortune of not able to completely remove. Sadly, there are smokers who use our rooms, and no matter how many signage we put up, will still smoke inside the rooms.

I had a terrible experience here. Their P500.00 room was ok for me. The only problem was the CR. It was too small. That's why we transferred to their next bigger room - worth P600.00. It was far better than the other room because it had a table, chairs and cabinets. I know what Backpacker's Inn looks like because I mostly go on trips. But this one was a rip off of your money. The blanket was too small and too thin. They charge you P20.00 each if you wanna borrow a blanket and/or towels. Imagine!? They don't offer free towels to guests. It should have been a part of the package since I booked for two. I was expecting 2 blankets and 2 towels. The most disappointing part was when we checked out. I was supposed to have my P200.00 change, but too bad I had to argue with the male owner first before I could get my change. They fired their front desk employee just a day before we checked out and she didn't endorse nor record anything about my change. She stole money from them. I got the chance to talk to that employee over the phone and she told me that she gave me my P150.00 change already. I highly doubt it. Why would I accept a P150.00 change when my actual change should be P200.00? We found out then and there that she was stealing money by not recording properly. The owner was a bit disrespectful, too, when talking to us. It's their responsibility to know their employees (background check them) and to handle such situation professionally. He probably had enough of me that's why he gave me my change. I HIGHLY AND STRONGLY SUGGEST TOURISTS NOT TO BOOK THIS PLACE. YOU'LL REGRET IT! I wouldn't even give them a single star. (But I did because it's required) *annoyed* They are terrible! The food there was terrible too. Room service costs 20% of your order. Water is P5.00. Just wow! Worst experience so far! Makes me not want to go back to Davao because of this experience. Hanggang ngayon naiinis ako!

We had the impression that you appeared intelligent and nice, but this rant about the 150 pesos change you did not receive should have been avoided if you only asked for a PROOF like something signed at the back of the receipt that the receptionist owed you "150 pesos". Any prudent and wise person knows this RULE if she is truly a wise traveller. As to the 5 pesos hot water, why do you pay for the COLD bottled mineral water for 10 pesos and would not pay for the boiled HOT mineral water? Do you expect to have a free boiled mineral water and yet pay for the cold mineral water? Do you also expect an unlimited supply of towels and bed linens because you changed rooms? We already stated in our advertisement that we offer a SMALL BUDGET ROOM for P500 pesos, and we are not a star hotel. You are a regrettable guest too, as your arrogance is not matched by your wallet. Next time, book in a five star hotel because your fanciful arrogance demands a HIGHER BUDGET that you can not afford even a FIVE PESOS HOT MINERAL WATER.

They were nice to accommodate us when we checked in late at night. The place is ideal for backpackers or if you're looking for an affordable place to stay in Davao city.
