The best thing about this apartment is its location - right in the middle of the old town, a few steps away from all the bars and restaurants. It really couldn't be better! The apartment was newly refitted and it seemed like we were the first guests. Everything was new and clean, which was lovely. But there were a few things missing.
There was no heating (except a towel rail in the bathroom) and no kettle to boil water for a hot drink. The windows of the apartment did not close properly so it was very draughty. We mentioned the heating and lack of a kettle and the host was quick to rectify this by bringing a brand new heater and a coffee percolator - much appreciated! Still no kettle though so we had to make tea in the coffee percolator! There was also no microwave and no toaster (which English guests might expect, although I appreciate that the French would not).
The lighting was very bright with halogen spotlights throughout controlled by one (non-dimmer) switch. So we were unable to create the cosy Christmas atmosphere we had hoped for! There were 4 brand new lamps, but they did not have bulbs so we were unable to use them. Similarly there was no bedside lighting for reading in the bedrooms (or anywhere to put a lamp, except for the floor) so it was bright halogen lights or nothing.
The bathrooms had good showers with plentiful hot water, but if you have an electric shaver or toothbrush, be aware that there is no power socket for these in the bathrooms.
We cannot comment on the wifi because the code we were given did not work and we never received the correct code.
Both bedrooms had large wardrobes but they only had shelves inside. There was no hanging space so we were unable to hang up our clothes.
There were no surfaces anywhere to put anything on in the bedrooms or the bathrooms. So nowhere to put your toiletries or personal things or alarm clock etc... Some shelves/bedside table would have been useful.
In summary we would say the apartment was smart, clean and functional but somewhat lacking in comfort. It felt as though it was not quite ready to receive guests - but with just a little more thought it could be a really lovely place to stay!
