A french bistro, wine shop, coffee, cocktails & a family owned grocery.,this lil fairy house is an open air treat for the young at heart..walk to Bayou Saint John, The Fairgrounds & City Park..all from you own lil speakeasy..NOW WITH OUTDOOR SHOWER!!

Le logement

It is kind of like stepping back in time… Very basic but comfortable… It makes me happy anyway… Please be aware that this is a very simple outdoor kitchen… More like the amenities that you get in a hotel : mini fridge/hot plates/microwave/grill… If you were wanting to have a big cooking at home experience this is probably Not the place for you :-) but most people come to New Orleans to eat out and just want to use my place for a little leftovers and chilling the beverages :-)

Accès des voyageurs

You will have access to two bedrooms… A private bathroom… A private courtyard that contains an outside New Orleans kitchen and dining area… there is also an outdoor shower that is new

Échanges avec les voyageurs

I may not be here to greet you… But available pretty readily by text if I'm not around the house next door....i own a lively cabaret downtown and can turn you on to some really great music, vaudeville & burlesque shows...

Autres remarques

I live in the house next door… And use a section of the back of the house that you're staying in… That section is locked off and will not impede on your privacy…

The outdoor space is great. Fun to host friends and the space is very NOLA. Would stay again.

Oh sugar… If it was completely sealed up it would be a condo in some other town… And of course you're going to see a mosquito in the yard :-) it's July in New Orleans … If I had it my way, it would be even more open… Like a Costa Rican dream

Charming place for sure. Definitely a rustic feel that captures the charm of New Orleans. We had a great time! A week later I'm still wishing I was there. Zalia was wonderful and very friendly. Easy to work with and made us feel at home. Cheers!

If you're looking for *the* ultimate Tennessee Williams-esque experience in NOLA, this is it! Zalia's place is like stepping onto a gorgeously-appointed set for one of his undiscovered works. You can practically sense Stanley and Blanche, Claire and Felice, and Maggie and Brick in the air. The Caribbean kitchen is a perfect place for a nightcap or morning coffee...the Blue Room ideal for an afternoon nap, and the big bed and grand piano in the main room make for a perfect place to sleep in and relax. A short walk (15 minutes) takes you up to St. Louis Cemetery #3, City Park, the Art Museum, a streetcar stop the "Dueling Oak" and Cypress Groves. After the hustle and bustle of the Quarter, this is a perfect place to nap and revive for the evening. Communication with Zalia is a breeze - she's prompt, helpful, and friendly. If you're traveling, and like Blanche "always depend on the kindness of strangers" - depend on Zalia and the Fairy Cottage for a wonderful stay!

Though a little on the austere side, this place was perfectly comfortable and not without a certain eccentric charm. Highlights include the outdoor shower and the box turtle who makes his home nearby (don't be startled if he pays you a visit when you're lathering up). Bedrooms could use some more light and there's a dearth of comfortable chairs, especially in the courtyard, which would otherwise be a great place to hang out. So...not for the fussy or fastidious. That said, the place was clean, the neighborhood is great, and Zalia is a kind and conscientious host. If you like a touch of the Bohemian and don't mind sharing a shower with a turtle (I didn't), this might be just the place for you.

Funny you should mention the chairs… The guest before you broke three of them and I was repairing them at the time… And we southern gals like to keep lighting low honey… Sorry it was only a four star experience for you

This was a great place to stay! It had a really nice feel to it and our uber driver (a local) said it was in his favourite area of New Orleans. There is a cool little supermarket and coffee shops just up the road and an uber to Bourbon St was only around $7. The kitchen is fairly basic and the fridge is small but it didn't bother us at all because there are so many good places to eat. Zalia was super helpful and always quick to respond to any questions. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends.
