Lovely house at lakefront, about 1h20 minutes from Montreal (door to door). A paradisiacal place with great karma to relax and enjoy some off-time.
It is easily reachable, not far from the highway, and has a spacious parking lot.
The house has three stories: i) A 'rez-de-jardin' (garden floor) with a living room, a master bedroom, and a bathroom (with bathtub). ii) A first floor, with a living room, big fully equipped kitchen and dining area, bathroom (with bathtub), and an extra room with a comfortable pull out bed. Washer and drier are available for use if renting for a minimum of four nights. iii) An attic area with two cozy bedrooms (one of them the children's room with a double futon on a box spring). There are two TVs, a DVD player and a quite large DVD selection (but no cable or satellite!). A radio/CD player and an eclectic selection of CDs are also provided. Both living rooms have breathtaking views over the lake. There are two pianos, one in each living room. The first-floor living room has a cozy wood stove and a beautiful carpet.
The house is only about five metres from the water front. In summer the lake is beautiful for swimming or boating. There is a kayak, a rowing boat, and a peddle boat (pédalo). There is also a little cabana with an extra futon for afternoon siestas in the summer and autumn months. In January and February one can snow shoe across the lake.
The lake is very clean and wonderful for swimming. The lake ground is muddy, but with no or very little vegetation in the water.
Accès des voyageurs
Depending on the number of guests, guest have access to the entire property, the house, the garden, the cabana, and the lake. Please note: when only two people are renting, we keep the attic bedroom and the upper bathroom closed to access.
Échanges avec les voyageurs
We are generally present to receive guests and show them around. During the stay we are not on the property available for questions by phone or email. We communicate in English, French, German, or (functional) Italian.
The water comes from a surface well and is drinkable and quite delicious.
Please note that we frequently bring our cat with us to the house. Therefore the place is NOT recommended for people with strong cat allergies!
The default daily rate indicated by Airbnb is the high season rate. In mid and low seasons the rate is lower (depending on dates). The weekly price Airbnb indicates is for high season (July-Aug, March break, Christmas and New Year's period). In mid and low season the weekly price is lower. (When you enter your desired dates into the Airbnb reservation inquiry, the system will return whichever particular rate applies for the given time frame.)
Additional adults after two guest pay $20 per night; children up to 12 year $10 per night.
The rez-de-jardin (garden level) has a powerful dehumidifier which keeps the space dry (thus: no basement humidity). It runs intermittently, mostly just during the summer months, when comes on a few times an hour and each time last for about 3-4 minutes. While it is running, it is somewhat noisy, but you can put the machine on standby during the night, so as not to be disturbed in your sleep.
This is our personal weekend and holiday house; we therefore kindly ask guests to be respectful of our personal belongings in the house. We wish to rent out to quiet, responsible professional adults and their families. We ask guests to leave the house in the state that they found it in. We have a high standard of cleanliness and you will find the house super clean when you check in. Please leave no dirty dishes, and make sure that you wash the pots and pans and wine glasses properly so we do not need to re-wash them. :) Please leave the garbage and recycling in the spaces that we will indicate. Strictly no smoking inside the house. If you smoke on the deck or in the garden, please do not leave your cigarette butts on the ground (or in the lake -- sadly this has happened!). We ask guests to take off their street shoes when inside the house. Pets are accepted conditionally (as per consultation). No parties. We ask guests to be respectful of our neighbours, of the quiet lake atmosphere, and of a clean environment. If you wish to listen to loud music outside, have fireworks or use other polluting substances, or have a party, this is not the place for you.
We live in Montreal. The lakefront house is our second home. We love spending quiet time there. It is a perfect place to write, to read, play the piano, listen to music, relax, and engage in outdoor activities. We sometimes rent it out, hoping that our house guests will enjoy the place as much as we do and will be respectful of it.
