Large, sunny double room in a refurbished 1920s character bungalow. Easy access to the city but in a quiet, safe neighbourhood. This room is quite a bit bigger than my other room listed, though that's not apparent from the photos.
Welcome To Auckland!
Located in a quiet street, looking onto a small deck and subtropical/native garden, I currently have a large, sunny double room available in my renovated four-bedroom twenties California bungalow.
Your room features double bed, along with high ceiling, desk and chair, wardrobe and bookcases, bedside chest, lights on a dimmer and native hardwood floor with a gorgeous brand new NZ wool rug. The bed has a firm mattress which will support your back and is very comfortable unless you like soft mattresses. It is fitted with an electric blanket.
Wireless internet (unlimited high speed fibre), Sky TV (in the lounge), washing machine, and shower are also included in the price. You will have your own fridge in the kitchen and your own house key while you are here.
You may be sharing the ground floor of the house, including a bathroom, with another AirBnB guest/guests. The owner (me, David) lives upstairs with his own bathroom. My son, 17, sleeps downstairs but mostly uses the upstairs bathroom.
Your accommodation is located a ten minute walk to Morningside Station, which has good cafes and trains to downtown Auckland. There are also frequent buses from/to the city along Great North Road and New North Road, each 10 mins away on foot. Alternatively, you could walk into the city centre in around an hour.
Kingsland is just 15 minutes away on foot, where you will be able to find many more great bars and cafes. We are also very close to Auckland Zoo and the Museum of Transport and Technology (MOTAT) which has a world-class aeroplane collection plus many trams and vintage motor vehicles. St Lukes shopping mall is a 5 minute drive away.
If you are interested in geology, there are numerous volcanic landforms in the area. Harbour scenery, including Point Chev Beach, is a short drive away and in 45 minutes you can be at an awe-inspiring west coast beach or immersed in a huge old growth native forest.
There's a bike rental place nearby (Adventure Cycles, - $120 a week for a mountain bike) which I recommend, - we're very close to the north-west cycle track, which goes to the ...erm... north west and there are some great places within 15 minutes of the house. If you rent a bicycle we can lock it away securely. You can easily (and quickly) cycle into the City on the cycle track too down Grafton Gulley, and to the waterfront. You can cycle to anywhere in the city centre in 25 minutes.
We look forward to meeting you.

David is terrible at talking when he's eating so it works best if guests can cook and eat when the kitchen and lounge are not in use, which is most of the time. They're nearly always available after 7pm.
Check-in time varies depending on whether someone is checking out that day and if David is working, which we can sort out beforehand. If he's working, check-in can often be organised in his absence. Morning might be possible but please no earlier than 8.00am.
In winter the room has an oil heater for your comfort, but it is a dangerous fire hazard to put wet clothes on top of it. A drying frame is provided, which is good for towels and clothes.
In terms of noise, please be considerate of sleepers in other rooms early in the morning or at night. The washing machine and dryer cannot be used after 10.00pm.
Please wear slippers or bare feet in the house: the hardwood floors can get scratched by shoes from outside.
