My husband and I live in a 2-bedroom apartment on the Upper West Side and we rent out our second bedroom for short-term stays. The room is all to yourself and we're more than happy for you to hang out with us in the living/TV room.
We are on the first floor with exactly 19 steps to our door so it's not a hard walk-up at all and we'll be happy to help you with your luggage.

-No food items allowed in the apartment because of our cat. She's friendly but always on the hunt for food and will eat anything, anywhere, anytime including stealing food from your hand/plate. :))
-The door to your room must be kept closed at all times as we don't want our cat in our guest room.
-Please don't leave the AC on when you leave the apartment for the day. It is a very strong AC and the room is small so it makes the space super chilled in no time. Plus leaving the AC on is so NOT environment-friendly. Show the planet some love please! :)
-We kindly ask that you don't take showers after 12am night time.
-Absolutely no smoking.
-Check in time: 3.00pm
-Check out time: 12.00pm
WHO AM I?
Hello traveler! I am Dee! I live on the Upper West Side in New York City with my husband, UJ and our cute little cat, Lokum! Though New York is my current home, I lived in other parts of the world before and I cannot think of life without traveling regularly!
WHAT DO I DO?
Having worked in hospitality industry for over 8 years, I am now pursuing my passion to travel and write. Updates on my current project can be found on DeecafW and under @duyguaktan on Instagram and with the hashtag #AirbnbBookProject .
I am staying at different Airbnb homes around Turkey and writing about my hosts' life stories, trying to tell how they become the person they are and how they contribute to create the social vibe of the city they live in.
At this day and age, where city guide type of information is easily accessible to anyone, I think that what's more important is to understand how to experience the true and authentic life as a local in places we visit and the best way to achieve that is to understand the people, who create that unique, local way of living.
Follow #AirbnbBookProject on Instagram // and under @duyguaktan for more updates on "People Guide" for Turkey.
HOW CAN I HELP YOU?
My husband and I take AirBnB very seriously and we try our best to make all of our guests' stays unforgettable for them! I personally know a lot about shopping and dining out in New York -maybe a little too much, agh!.. - and my husband is the best person to ask for directions -seriously he can smell the scent of lost people on the street and point them towards the right direction; typical New Yorker behavior. We both have a LONG list of our favorite breakfast/lunch/dinner spots in Manhattan as well as Brooklyn.
Every time somebody asks me about my favorite destination, I get paralyzed because I simply cannot pick a favorite! It's the thrill of the new, the unknown, the discovery that makes me love anywhere I go. With that in mind, I wouldn't even be able to exclude planet Mars from my list of places to see but here's a quick top 5:
Thanks for reading and we look forward to getting to know you too!
