Continental historic building in downtown Bogota that was for decades social and political scene, was recently renovated to make residential and commercial center with an investment equivalent to 17 million dollars.
The eight-story building was designed by the late Italian architect Vicente Nasi which left important works not only in Colombia but in Venezuela, Zimbabwe and Italy, on behalf of employers and Aldo Sergio Cozza Salvino, also Italian.
The building conforms to the winding avenue Jimenez, built in the 30s and 40s on the old bed of the Bogotá River, which was channeled.
The hotel opened in 1948 and was released as one of the venues hosting attending the IX Pan American Conference in which the Organization of American States (OAS) was created.
On April 9, 1948 the Colombian capital was the scene of a riot after being assassinated liberal politician Jorge Eliecer Gaitan, and part of the capital's center was reduced to rubble.
