Description

Located in the safe and trendy area surrounding one of Taiwan's best universities, and a five minute walk from the Shida night market, Daan Park, and Yongkang street, this apartment is sure to please anyone looking to explore Taipei.

This lovely loft offers a beautiful view of National Taiwan Normal University and is perfect for urban explorers and travelers looking for a comfortable and convenient getaway in this awesome city. The apartment features a second floor loft with a double bed and a single bed, allowing for 3 adults to sleep comfortably, or maybe two parents and two children.

Inside the apartment, you will have full access to WIFI, cable TV, a kitchen, and a washer. You will have total access to the apartment space.

We normally allow our guests to self check-in by hiding a key in a convenient location. If you have any problems during your stay, we live just a short walk from the house, so we can help you sort out any problems. We are always happy to answer any questions about traveling in Taiwan, but we usually won't see each other unless necessary as we want to respect your privacy. Please let us know if we can make your stay more comfortable.

Please note, this is an English language only listing.

The neighborhood surrounding The Harvard is perhaps the best in Taipei. Nearby there are an endless array of cafes, tea houses, night market snacks, shopping, and outdoor activities. Within five minutes walking you will find Taipei's largest park, Da'an which is full of trails and tranquility. Less than five minutes away you will find Yongkang Street and Lishui Street, home to some of Taipei's best restaurants. (Ask us where to find the best Japanese barbecue in town!). Sushi and Ramen, Greek, Mexican, Indian and American style food are all near at hand. You are also a five minute walk from the Shida night market, one of the biggest in the city, and the best place to go for trendy, fashionable clothes from Korea, Singapore and Japan. For those guests, looking to explore Xinyi, Ximending, and Beitou, or anywhere else in Taiwan, for that matter, the MRT is nearby to bring you almost anywhere in Taipei city in under 30 minutes. Now that's what I call, convenient.

Guting area, you may notice, is full of "waiguoren", the Taiwanese phrase for 'foreigners' of all kinds. This is due to the proximity of Taiwan's oldest Mandarin Training Center, which is part of Taiwan's second-best ranked university, NTNU. The campus is right in your backyard and is a nice place to meet young people and to people watch with an iced coffee if you want to escape the heat.

The Harvard is a ten minute walk from Guting MRT and Dongmen MRT, which link up quickly with all areas of Taipei. There is also a bus stop close by which is very convenient as well. Taxis are plentiful in Taipei and their price is subsidized by the government, so they are super cheap. There is also a youbike rental station five minutes from the apartment, so you can rent a bike and ride for 30 minutes for only 5NTD! Taipei is a bikers paradise with its flat streets and bike lanes, just be careful!

You are staying in arguably the nicest part of Taipei. Yongkang Street is home to the world-renowned original Din Tai Fung and the best mango in the city. There are many wonderful restaurants within walking distance to meet any budget. Daan Park - the largest park in the city - is just a few minutes away. Shida Night Market is less than 8 minutes walking as well.

Accurate description of the place. Not sure this is a great place for more than 1 person. When 2 people are working at the desk, the person closest to the kitchen has to stand up in order to let the other cross. Also, it's a bit scary going down the stairs in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. Good location, great open communication.

Good: Size of the apartment was relatively large. Location is excellent. Prompt responses. Not-so-Good: Poor/No Wifi. Strict terms and conditions. Limited trash disposal. Headline promotes an Ivy League experience of style and elegance. Even the wifi password (more on that later) evokes images of elitism. The actual situation is more sobering - value and budget tier. The property is a bit overvalued, but we are paying the premium for the Ivy League branding. Wifi was a serious problem. It is ADSL, with an unsecure WPA connection, typical speed of 1 Mbps, other times no connection. I have 4 devices and travel 50% of the time. I need fast and reliable internet. I could not connect my MacBook through the wifi, however the 2.5 foot Ethernet cable connection worked (happy I brought adapter). My Windows laptop would connect half the time on the VPN. Host's multiple responses was that this was the first time in 2 years that a guest had trouble, where there was no other solution. Must be my fault. Trash disposal requires buying special trash bags at a 7-11 and waiting on a street corner at 9pm. I would have appreciated a mid week cleaning as this was a longer stay, or other trash disposal options.

American expat living and working in Taipei as an English and Economics teacher. I frequently practice yoga and take long naps. I have used airbnb in Brazil and the US, and am happy to host guests in Taipei. I was only planning on staying in Taiwan for 9 months, but it's been almost 2 years now and I don't plan on moving anytime soon. Taiwan is incredible and its people continue to impress me with their generosity and kindness.

As I don't live in the apartment that I will be renting, I will not be present very often. I am happy to tell you about nearby restaurants and nightlife, and anything else you would like to know. Xie xie!
