This is a third floor apartment on the roof of our house. It has a new-ish feel and a great view of the bay from its side windows and from the wonderful front terrace. The terrace has a table and four chairs plus two lounge chairs. There is a nice kitchen with table and 4 chairs, refridgerator, electric 4-burner stove/oven, a blender, toaster, coffee maker, pots, pans, dishes and utinsils for preparing food and cleaning up.

There are two bedrooms with one queensized bed in each and one bathroom with a shower. There is a hair dryer in the bathroom and an iron is available upone request. A fold out couch is in the living room which is a nice furnished sitting area. There is a TV with cable service. The Wifi signal is good.

You will enjoy the small pool and garden in our back yard. We have a shared living room and kitchen on the ground floor where you are welcome. A delicious breakfast will be served for you by the pool next door at Las Gaviotas Resort from 8 am - 10 am. It consists of coffee, tea, fruit juice (usually fresh), toast made from home-made bread and eggs as you like them with bacon, yogur, cereales... You will also enjoy parking privileges at the larger swimming pool at Las Gaviotas Resort plus parking privileges in our secure enclosed garage there. A washer and dryer is available for your use. We provide the detergent and fabric softener for $100 pesos per load.(About $5US)

A gas bar-b-que grill is available for guest use near the pool. Maintenance or cleaning staff and a nightwatchmen are always on duty. If you need someone you can ring the doorbell outside the lobby to get their attention and if they can't take care of you they will contact us. We live in the building as well.

Your room will be cleaned daily, just like a hotel. A hairdryer, clothes iron and ironing board are available upon request. Beach towels are provided for pool and beach use. There is a self serve washer and dryer available for $70 pesos per load. Detergent and fabric softener are provided for you. Did I mention FREE WIFI? Wifi is available in your room and throughout the property.

My husband, Gonzalo, and I are usually helping to serve breakfast. We are happy to offer information or help you find your way around. We have a spare cell phone or two which we loan out so you can keep in touch if you wish. Some guests love to meet and mingle over breakfast. They are a good source of travel info for one another and conversation is often interesting and even facinating. Some prefer to keep to themselves and of course that is respected as well.

You are a stones throw from the waterfront where a wide sidewalk can be observed from your terrace. The entire community enjoys walking and bicycling along this waterfront promenade. Throughout the summer you can hear the kids playing soccer and volleyball into the late hours.
We have a nice little grocery store about 6 minutes walk from our building. There are several if not many very good restaurants and taco stands within easy walking distance. A hospital/clinic is located about 12 minutes walk away; a distance of 6 short blocks.

Once you arrive you can easily get around the city by walking. It is considered quite safe, but it is not recommended that you walk around with a beer in your hand nor is beachwear considered appropriate for walking in the street. There are plenty of little restaurants where you can sit and sip a beer though and flip-flops and a t-shirt for the guys and a little cover-up over a bathing suit for the ladies brings you perfectly up to dress code. Bikes can be rented nearby. City buses can take you to the beaches during the day from the waterfront bus station. Taxis are very reasonably priced and sometimes make more sense than renting a car for the day. The driver will most happily guide you after you negotiate a price for the activities you have in mind.

The best seafood in the world can be enjoyed here in La Paz and it doesn't have to be expensive. There are amazing taco stands where you can enjoy fish, shrimp, mantaray, marlin, octopus, lobster, etc. etc., all in a taco. Our beaches, although out of town, are really beautiful. Don't miss out on snorkeling or kayaking if that is something you enjoy. Scuba diving and fishing are also popular. Many tourists come here just to swim with the whale sharks, a docile giant, often found within a 10 minute boat ride from the city's waterfront. We also have a beautiful island that you should visit if at all possible. Espiritu Santo Island, accessible by boat is a wonderful day-trip. We send our guests with the best tour company and the best guides. Ask us if you are interested. We highly recommend it and guarantee it will be a highlight of your visit to La Paz. You can also walk on the waterfront sidewalk to enjoy the ambiance of our old downtown. There are shops and restaurants. Usually one can find some live music in the evenings. Rent a bike and ride to Corumuel, our closest white sandy beach about a mile from Posada Colibri. Stand-up paddle-boards can be rented just down the waterfront about a 10 minute walk from us. We have a neat whale museum a short walk away.

We stayed at hotel gaviotas, because "the nest" was already occupied. Linda and her staff prepared vegan breakfast for my girlfriend.

The Nest is part of Posada Colibri, a house turned into rentable rooms and apartments. It's owned by the same lovely couple who owns Hotel Las Gaviotas, a few doors down the street. Estelle and Mohammed are the managers and were called away unexpectedly, so Gail and Gonzalo, the owners of both properties, took care of everything for the week we were there. Because it was the low season (end of July), we would have been the only ones at Posada Colibri and we were offered the choice of staying at The Nest or moving over to Las Gaviotas, which is the main building. We opted to stay at the hotel to make it easier on everyone, but toured The Nest first and would have been perfectly happy to stay there. Everything was perfect, from the location right off the Malceon to the delicious breakfast, to the delightful conversation with our hosts and other guests. Drinking water and housekeeping services were provided, and the full staff was wonderful. We loved staying here and would highly recommend it to anyone.
