Maria may be there to greet you, you will be given her number upon booking confirmation, however if she is not you will be greeted by the groundskeepers, Tupo and Sita, who take care of the plantation, gardens, and the house maintenance and cleaning. Tupo is also the onsite security. They are almost always onsite (their house is across the valley) if you need anything in relation to the house, but email us if you desire (at extra cost) airport pick-up, car hire, or even a guide to the island, or tour leader for nature treks and the like and we can organise that for you.

Autres remarques

The Samoan Highland Hideaway is located in the hills above Apia, about a 20 minute drive from the great places to eat and drink whilst you're here. UTILITIES
Internet: Internet in Samoa is very expensive and as such WiFi is NOT provided via landline at the property.
USB Internet dongles are available in various packages through the internet providers Bluesky or Digicel. Dongles are available at various outlets in Apia and should be purchased independently by the guest.
Phones:
A. Land Line phone connection is NOT available for guest use.
B. Cell phones are highly recommended and are available locally through providers Bluesky or Digicel. Signal strength on the premises varies and is poor within concrete structures. Owner does not guarantee cell phone reception on the premises under any conditions, at any time.
C. SIM cards are locally available for unlocked cell phones
Power: The main power supply in Samoa is 240 volt, 50 cycles. The property is Solar powered with battery back-up. Electric Power Corporation (EPC) provides additional power back-up. The Owner highly recommends that heavier power usage tasks such as washing and cooking be performed during the daytime when sunshine is available. Minimize heavy power consumption during hours of darkness - attempt to limit usage to necessary lighting and fans.
Note that the cost of power in Samoa is amongst the highest in the world at approximately US$ 0.45/kWh (SAT 1.00/kWh).
Power service is periodically unavailable due to tropical storms, off-premises outages and on some occasions when the solar system is “kicked-out”. Please contact the Owner’s representative to switch over manually to the grid. Owner is not responsible for loss of power.
Please refer to the section on the use 110 volt electrical appliances.
Voltage: 110 volt electronic devices at minimum require convertor and most likely a step-up transformer to 240 volts. North American electronic devices and appliances are 110 volt, 60 cycles while Samoan power is 240 volt, 50 cycles.
Always check the manufacturer’s recommendation for power conversion for each device especially hair dryers, curling irons and other appliances that draw moderate to high current since a step-down transformer MUST be used. Equipment will burn out and possibly trip the household breakers.
Do Not plug 110volt devices directly electric sockets (plug-ins)
(website hidden): Local TV channels (usually four) are available. Satellite TV is not provided by Homeowner. Local TV reception is generally mediocre and grainy.
Homeowner is not responsible for TV signal quality or availability.
Water: Both the Main House and Samoan Fale are on mains water supply (with back-up tank supply). DO NOT DRINK the mains water.
i. Drinking (potable) Water: Drink only the filtered water which is standalone at the kitchen sink.
ii. Non-potable Water: Solar heated water is available at most times for showering and washing purposes. During heavy rainfall, the mains water may become discoloured.
Garbage Disposal: Household rubbish must be collected in plastic bags, tied/sealed and deposited in the main outside wheeled garbage bin. Collect the bags in the outside bin when ready for off-property disposal and deposit in our steel cage outside the old Aleisa East Market along Alafaalava Road (this will be explained more clearly after Guest’s arrival). Owner has a standing arrangement with the local resident for combined garbage collection. Under NO circumstances may Guest leave garbage or biodegradable refuse lying in or around the house. Any cleanup costs will be deducted from the Damage Deposit.
Septic System: The septic system is very effective; however, it will clog up if improper material is flushed. As such, DO NOT FLUSH anything other than toilet paper. No feminine products should be flushed at any time.

The house and garden are lovely for a nice relaxing holiday. Tim and Maria were excellent hosts, even allowing us to stay an extra night when other accommodation fell through. It is slightly out of town (15 minute drive) and secluded, therefore, would not recommend for a loud group of 20-somethings as the village courtesy of quiet after sun down can be difficult to adhere to. The road to the driveway of the property is extremely rugged and hard to maneuver in anything other than a 4WD. All in all, it is a great value for money and a lovely home as long as you're quiet at night and able to traverse the road to the property.

This place was amazing. We stayed for 13 days and just could not get enough of the view from the balcony. Perfect quite get away from hussles and bustle of Sydney. So comfy that it was tempting to just spend the day at home relaxing but our goal was to explore Samoa.. We loved our stay so much so we are going back to Samoa in 2019 and wanting to stay here again A++++

Great escape from the heat and craziness of Apia town. Best umu I have eaten in many years. Felt like we were part of a large happy extended Samoan family. Wonderful gardens and quiet nights. Tim and Maria are fantastic hosts. On arrival we were surprised By their generosity - they provided coconuts, avocados, pawpaw, bananas and limes. They were full of helpful tourist advice, friendly and patient as we attempted Samoan. Great place for families and plenty of room, would recommend highly. The house is huge and provided more than enough space for all the family. Lovely balcony overlooking the plantation, close drive to all shops & Apia, and so peaceful. Thank you from all our family Tim & Maria - you were both amazing and the house superb. Reviews above from 3 in our family.

Beautiful house and setting with lush gardens and the sounds of nature wafting through the louvres. All facilities good (kitchen, bathrooms, laundry, living areas) and such friendly and welcoming hosts and pets. Had a lovely relaxing stay. Fa'afetai tele lava! Suggested improvements: tv/dvd player; ant control measures, particularly downstairs

We, being 7 Aussie girls, stayed at the Tim and Maria's Hideaway House in the hills of Samoa. We loved the house and how big and beautiful it was. Maria greeted us when we arrived and Tim dropped in and have gave us good tips for travelling around the islands. We loved the huge amounts of fruit they gave us every morning right from their backyard. Overall we had a really great time! Would have been awesome if it were a bit closer to town but the views were definitely worth it all. Thank you!!

Tim and Maria provided us with great accomodation. The house is large and is in a very quiet village. We were able to walk to the local corner shop and meet plenty of happy locals. Sita and Tupo were extremely helpful when we needed them and took great care of the house as Tim and Maria were away. Could not ask for any better people to assist us. The house is very cool as there are plenty of fans and is situated above sea level. The gardens surrounding the house are wonderful which our kids loved playing in. The only negative thing was the ants, but it didn't have an impact on our stay. We had a great time and I highly recommend staying in this house if you travel to Samoa. 9.5 out of 10. Thanks Tim and Maria for letting us stay at your house. We will be returning again.

Thanks for a wonderful review Sean....and especially the work of Sita and Tupo. Could you be specific about the ants please....were they in the kitchen, on the counter, around the garbage, anywhere else in the house, outside, etc? Cheers, Tim
