Description

Enjoy my 3-room airconditioned 4 persons apartment, modernly furnished, well-equiped new kitchen, balcony, walk in shower, ideal for a family with 2 kids (queen + bunkbed). Located in trendy Bos & Lommer in Amsterdam West, 10-15 min by tram to the city centre.

The apartment:
The apartment is on the 3rd floor and is 60m2. It is ideal for a couple or a small family. There is a spacious living room with flatscreen tv, xbox and wifi internet. The ensuite kitchen is fully equipped (stove, oven, fridge, freezer, cutlery, pans, plates, Nespresso coffee machine, cappuccino creamer etc.) You can use anything from the kitchen like herbs, coffee, tea. The bedroom has an adjustable queen sized bed. The other bedroom has a comfortable bunkbed. The bathroom has a walk in rain shower. You can use the washing machine if needed. There is a separate modern toilet. The apartment has a balcony in the back with a nice view over the garden and evening sun.

The apartment is ideal for a family (for instance 2 adults and 2 kids). To keep the neighbors happy party people will not be accepted. The whole apartment is for your own use. You can make use of the towels, toilet paper, washing powder, etc.

Arrival:
I like to welcome my guests in person, so I can answer any questions and I can give you advice on where to go and what to do, depending on your needs. If I'm not able to meet you my sister Bernou will be there to welcome you and help you out when needed. 24/7 arrival is possible. When you make a reservation, please let me know when you arrive and when you plan to leave again, so I can give you the keys when you arrive and you can hand me the keys when you leave (or we can arrange something else when needed). I know I don't have any reviews yet, but this is because I just started renting my place. I hope you trust me in doing my best and then the rest will follow ;)

The Neighborhood:
The apartment is set in a quiet and safe neighborhood, but there are also lot's of things to see and do! The Erasmaspark is right at the end of the street, the Westerpark (including nice bars, restaurants and clubs) is just a few blocks away, reachable by foot. Shops and grocery stores are all around you and there are some great restaurants to eat out (Thai, Indonesian, Italian, Turkish). There are also some great bars!
Bos & Lommer is part of Amsterdam West, which I think is one of the most diverse neighborhoods in town. You find almost everything here! This multi-culti area – with a laid back attitude – is home to a cool mix of independent stores and many restaurant hotspots. You will find a diversity of cozy coffee places, cool concept stores and vintage boutiques. Amsterdam West is also great for foodies! You find a nice eatery at almost every corner. Amsterdam West can be divided in different neighbourhoods. All with their own characteristics! Explore them all and discover the Foodhallen, the first indoor food market of Amsterdam at the Kinkerstraat and Bellamy square. Or go shopping at one of the trendy streets like the Jan Pieter Heijestraat which is packed with cool stores. In the upcoming Baarsjes you will find the nicest restaurants and stores at almost every corner. Make sure to check out the Jan Evertsenstraat and the Admiraal the Ruijterweg.
For recommendations, please check my travel guide at the bottom of this page (you can also find a printed version in my apartment).

I Amsterdam City Card:
If you would like to visit multiple museums and would like to travel using public transport I can strongly recommend to buy an 'I Amsterdam City Card' in advance. The card will be delivered to your home address, or alternatively you can choose to collect it as soon as you arrive in Amsterdam at: 1) Amsterdam Airport Schiphol: I amsterdam Visitor Information Centre Schiphol Airport, Arrivals Hall 2 'Holland Tourist Information' or 2) Amsterdam Central Station: I amsterdam Visitor Information Centre at Stationsplein, Stationsplein 10 (opposite the main station entrance). With your City Card you can start enjoying unlimited public transport in Amsterdam with the GVB network, free entrance to 50+ major attractions and more than 60 valuable discounts. You can choose from a 24, 48, 72 or 96 - hour card, and book it online (Please search for it on the web since I am not allowed to post a link).

Public transport:
If you come by train and want to get to my apartment, you can go to Amsterdam Sloterdijk (it's 7 min from Central Station and 15 min from Schiphol). From there you can take tram 12 to the stop called De Rijpstraat (it takes 10 min), which is just around te corner of my apartment. If you want to get into the city, you can take tram 14 (to the centre, 15 min) or tram 12 (to Vondelpark and Museum square, 15 min)

Renting a bike:
It's possible to rent bicycles to get into town the way the Dutch people like it the best :) It's save to try it yourself, you'll love it! The nearest bike rental is Rent A Bike in the Derde Hugo de Grootstraat 4IV. You can rent a bike for 6,50 euro for 1 day, 12 euro for 2 days.

By car:
It is possible to park your car pretty close by the apartment, but it is payed parking. There is a parking garage a few blocks away, it costs 1 euro per hour. There is also a transferium (P+R Bos en Lommer) a few blocks away. You can park there in the weekend for just 1 euro per 24 hours, and then you have to get a tram/bus dayticket for 5 euro for 2 persons, which you need to use (you probably will).

Taxi: taxis are pretty expensive in Holland. My suggestion would be to use Uber. A regular taxi to Schiphol Airport costs 35 euros and takes 15 min. You can call for a taxi to Taxi Direct Amsterdam or use the TCA app.

I've been living in Amsterdam since 2005. Although I also lived in the east of Amsterdam I am very proud to be living in BOLO (Bos en Lommer / west of Amsterdam Center). My street can be very quite since it ends at the canal with huge old trees surrounding the Erasmuspark. If you are lucky you can even spot the famous lime green parrots that escaped from the Amsterdam Zoo Artis years ago! You are welcome to enjoy My, iamsterdam · com ;-)
