Nancy, I appreciated your feedback during your stay regarding the window and strange noise issue, and of course (as I mentioned on the phone) both were taken care of immediately upon your departure, so as not to disturb you.
As for the rest... You absolutely can walk out the living room door and back in by the bathroom/kitchen door, in order to avoid disturbing those in the master bedroom. In fact we re-arranged the entire unit so that that would be possible. I'm sorry it somehow was not apparent to you that that was an option.
Lastly, I very purposefully request, in my initial message to my guests, that they contact me when the have arrived, letting me know that they got in ok, that all is well, and if they have any questions at all. It is my belief that it's better to invite contact than to impose it on one's guests. This keeps the locust of control in the guests' hands, where it ought to be. And I think most of my guests appreciate it -- and, as you did, also appreciate my accessibility and responsiveness. I'm sorry that, for whatever reason, you didn't read or remember my invitation.
It makes me really sad when a guest is unhappy or displeased -- even when the fault is not mine -- and I wish you happier travels in the future.
