Great spot for our 2 day//1 night stay in Venice! We were greeted by a friendly woman who gave us a tour of the space, letting us know what areas were common and which rooms were reserved for other traveling guests. There was a decent sized kitchen area and a nice canal-side balcony off of the common room. The only downside to our short stay was having to operate around several yoga classes that were occurring in the common area, which limited the availability of the space. We also never actually met Carlos to thank him for offering us the room! Ciao Carlos!
We stayed in a recently renovated room called 'Butterfly Terrace' - with windows and beatiful rooftop views on both sides - with a private bathroom and great shower stall in the room (various settings of shower nozzles and optional radio- tuned to lively Venetian music stations). Do bring mosqito repellent and/or net - Venice is surrounded by water - so there are mosquitoes. Carlo's place is close to (but not on) the Campo S. Margherita- very fun to hang out day or night - with lots of places to eat either in the plaza or in streets close by. Sometimes noisy at night - but nothing a good set of earplugs can't handle (we slept fine). We appreciated the kitchen with fridge space - there is a grocery store close by as well as fish and veg stalls in the campo. Communication and check-in was fine - we didn't meet Carlo, but he responded immediately by phone, answering our questions and addressing our various needs. Also, people working in the building were helpful and kind - on our first night, the renovator/caretaker helped us find a restaurant we really enjoyed. Great place to base oneself for a Venice visit.
Bed was clean. Bathroom is shared and very small. Host became uncontactable after confirmation and did not respond to messages on airbnb and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN). But did pick up our call when we tried to check in. Place is expensive too but i think the room is big and bed is nice so it is still worth as a medium priced lodging.
