A magical homesteader cabin embedded in 2.5 acres of unfenced Joshua Tree desert wilderness, 15 minutes from downtown Joshua Tree, 18 minutes from the National Park. Experience peace, quiet, wildlife and STARS — on the grid but off the pavement.
Stay in this lovely, gently renovated piece of history. Pioneering homesteaders came to this area over 50 years ago and built small cabins on large tracts of land, some of them pre-fabs. This is one of them!
Less than 15 minutes' drive from downtown Joshua Tree. Spectacular views, and desert wildlife, flora and fauna.
-outdoor "under the stars" hot shower
-indoor 1/2 bathroom with sink and flush toilet
-full kitchen (incl stove and oven)
-queen-sized bed in the bedroom
-cook outside! barbecue grill is provided
-wireless hi-speed internet
- Please note that there is a fireplace in the cabin, * but it does not work. *
Guests may also have freshly prepared organic juices made by local juice cleanse guru Angela de la Agua delivered to the cabin. A menu/pricelist is available upon request.
Please note that we have a TWO-NIGHT MINIMUM ON WEEKENDS (Fri-Sat-Sun), and a THREE-NIGHT MINIMUM FOR LABOR DAY WEEKEND. This requirement allows us to keep our per-night rate low, so that the greatest number of folks get a chance to experience being here in the unfenced desert, under the Milky Way.
We donate 2.5% of our proceeds to the Mojave Desert Land Trust, an excellent local non-profit organization devoted to "protect[ing] the Mojave Desert ecosystem and its scenic and cultural resource values."
Échanges avec les voyageurs
Upon your arrival, we will introduce you to how the cabin works, and to the land and its animals. We live less than a mile away and will be available 24/7 during your stay.
CHECK-IN TIME is by appointment only, between 3pm-8pm. We recommend arriving before dark.
CHECK-OUT TIME is noon.
No smoking indoors. Smoking outdoors is permitted only using an ashtray. We live in the wild and brushfire is a real possibility.
No firearms. No drones. No ORVs. Nothing mechanical and moving is allowed on the property or over it.
Absolutely no commercial photography or filming is permitted on site without previous agreement with us.
Please check with us as to where you can roam on foot. The cabin is situated in the middle of near-wilderness, next to many more acres of BLM-owned wilderness, including a wash. We'll be happy to show you where the boundaries are, where the best views are, the best flowers, the tortoise burrows and so on.
Most importantly, do not harm or harass the wildlife or tamper in any way with their respective nests or burrows. We will explain to you what to do if you encounter specific animals (roadrunner, cactus wren, desert tortoise, coyote, snakes, etc) while you are here. We all live here together. It's easy to do.
À partir du 22 novembre 2017 - 25 novembre 2017, la durée minimum de séjour est de 4 nuits.
We are creative types who left Los Angeles in 2010 seeking a richer, more serene lifestyle inside nature. Stephanie is an architect, Jay is founder/editor of Arthur Magazine. We live in Joshua Tree full-time and rent out our three restored homestead cabins (with a fourth on the way). We're active in the local community and we also maintain ties to friends and colleagues in LA and beyond. We're excited to meet you and we offer you a warm welcome.
