John Tubula has been a very good host for my friends and I when we were visiting Maasai Mara. Sleeping at John's house is not only a cheap alternative to sleeping in an expensive lodge inside the park but the best way to get to know and experience Maasai culture and daily life. John's house is just 5 minutes away from Sekenani Gate, which is the main entrance to the park. John is a true Maasai warrior and always kindly explained to us everything about his village. He also guided us through the park, which was really helpful because you can get easily lost if you go without a guide. We slept in a small cottage which consisted of three double rooms and a living room. The bathroom was outside the cottage in a small shed. It had toilets and a shower with hot water (that they heated up by making a fire). John is very flexible and helpful so anything you need or want to do he will do his best to make it happen. In general it was an excellent experience. My friends and I agree that we wouldn't have changed it for the most expensive hotel in the Maasai Mara.

When we were organising our trip to Kenya we booked a room with John Tubula (The only Maasai on airbnb?). This was a bit of a gamble because John had no reviews. He only has airbnb on his phone. That's one of the reasons there are only a limited number of photo's. What a great gamble it turned out to be! We have had a great stay at John's camp with our family (kids aged 8 and 5)! We stayed in a cottage (not a tent), situated in a camp close to the main gate to maasai mara game reserve. Walking freely around the cottage is not safe because monkeys, elephants and other wild animals roam around. There is a maasai warrior on watch permanently. The first day John took us for a walk around the camp, telling us about the plants,  animals and maasai culture. We visited a neighbouring traditional maasai village  and were shown around  (for a financial contribution). John Tubula and James Parkiri, both maasai warriors,  took us on two game drives. We saw a lot of animals including most of the big six.  We even went into the mountains to spot a black rhino and were lucky. The food was simple and satisfying. We enjoyed the ugali,  chapati's and sukumawiki Isaac made us the most. Beds are comfortable and there is electricity for a few hours a day. Isaac, who runs the camp is really willing to help and super friendly. John Tubula is a truly great person. He responded quickly to all my questions via (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN). His English is outstanding. You don't get the feeling that he sees you as a walking bag of money. He is truly interested in other cultures and happy to share everything about the Maasai culture. The great thing about this place is that it is a masaai community project and profits flow, at least partly, back into the local community. We had a lovely and authentic stay and higly recommend it to others!

My Name are John Tubula , I was born and lived all my life in Maasai mara olorien village. I am still a Maasai warrior and proud of my cultural heritage. I'm passionate about wildlife conservation. Wildlife tracking is all my greatest strength. I knows all the trails and hideouts for local wildlife (MAASAI MARA GAME PARK). I can identify foot prints and animal droppings in a way no one else could. I do have an indigenous knowledge about Africa’s wildlife and the savanna ecology is unbeatable. I enjoys hosting and guiding visitors around my homeland and sharing personal life and experiences being a Maasai warrior.
I love also travelling last year visited United States and Hong Kong. My mission is to travel world wide learning new culture and making new friends.
