Less B&B, more B&BYOB. Take a your (good) dog on a walk through the woods, make a campfire, sunbathe among the wild flowers or join us for film night. Hike/bike/ski the Berkshire foothills.
Note: We are mostly/often vegetarian, and guests who enjoy meat who make a point of bringing that produced locally and humanely make us feel warm inside :) We are familiar with most of the farmers in the area, so ask us ahead of timeif you want us to see about getting you something for the grill.
Besides your bedroom and the amazing bath (avail at certain hours) you will have access to the enormous double-sided stone fireplace in the media room/living room where we love screening docs and old movies and 70's exploitation and stuff in the evenings. We like to use the TV for Pandora during the day - to play tango and blues and latin jazz and opera and stuff. We have a wood fired "nature tub" that may be available if you want to help us gather wood etc to heat it. With advanced notice you can join us for dinner BTW we are mostly vegan. If you just want to escape without social pressure you can hole up and read in peace - we get it. We are usually quiet and always considerate and truly enjoy hosting. We have discounted the rooms while we finish our upstairs renovation!

Besides use of much of the Stone Palace (see our other listing under "entire home" ) Basically, we have three structures on five acres, and have found that many things are possible when people are interested in being creative, fun, respectful, honorable and reasonable. Curious just ask.

The palace is large enough so that if you (or if we) want to hide away and read or work or whatever, it's pretty easy. On the other hand. The rather quirky/open/modernist floor plan makes absolute privacy difficult in terms of sound etc. But we enjoy interaction, especially with people who share our interest in growing and building community, who appreciate diversity but avoid preciousness and truisms, who respect nature as well as urban life, and also collaboration and personal growth and start-ups and non-human animals and b-movies and women stand-up comics and the 1980's and the kind of books with pages that you turn and also technology.
We enjoy the company of smart, kind, funny, skilled, odd, respectful, creative, non-judgy people who don't easily offend. Also gardeners, crafts persons, storytellers, actors, carpenters, cooks, bakers, linguists, philosophers, entrepreneurs, writers, fortune tellers.
We have a new rescue dog with fear issues, so that may or may not be an issue for you. We love well-behaved dogs.
We also have a few Silkies - a unique breed of chicken. Our roosters, can be noisy at times now that they are raising nine chicks. People who enjoy animals or at least tolerate them will be happiest with us!
As for pricing, the upstairs bedrooms, while funky and cool, are not quite finished (ask us for an update/details) This has not been an issue for the many people who have booked our entire home.
We are sometimes super busy and prefer folks who don't mind entertaining themselves, but other times, when work is done and we are happy to host bonfires and extreme midnight croquet and boozy brunch or whatever. Just let us know what you are looking for and we will do our best to accommodate! Be kind to animals, considerate, pleasant and friendly.

We enjoy both traveling and hosting with Airbnb (and similar sites) that encourage adventure, embracing uncertainty and authenticity over the bland and generic.
It's especially nice to host independent, self-reliant types who are as curious about the world and considerate of others as we hope to be.
