À propos de ce logement
These small 2.69m x 1.98m wooden cabins look out to sea through fully glazed double doors, outdoor deck, on an organic farm-veg available, bedding & towels, lights, heater and an extra socket for charging things, shared kitchen, showers and loos. If this pod / cabin is booked there are 3 others please see my other listings - Oyster Catcher / Arctic Tern / Curlew
These (8'10" x 6'6" or 2.69m x 1.98m) wooden structures, designed and built on the farm, resembling the traditional upturned boat shelter, offer lined and insulated accommodation for those who prefer not to travel ladened with tent, bedding and cooking equipment.
They look out to sea through fully glazed double doors and provide an indoor/outdoor living option with their outdoor deck, very helpful for our changeable weather. They are cosy also in winter.
Bicycles and vehicles can be parked discreetly beside and an outdoor storage box is provided or space in the tractor shed. Inside, a simple platform provides double or single bed options or raised seating.
Each eco cabin has bedding and towels, lighting, small heater, extra electricity socket, blankets. The kitchen, loos and showers are nearby and shared with the campers. Please note there are 4 cabins please enquire for availability.
On an organic farm with fresh produce available to buy on the campsite and organic dried products. Beautiful sea view.

My Dad Mike lives in the farmhouse at Wheems and the house is open from 9-10am and 6-8pm daily if you would like to meet him and he might have some organic in season veg and eggs for sale.
If there is no one there when you arrive you will see the cabins at the top of the track. Just drive all the way up the track and into your right past the stone dyke. Dad will hopefully have put your name on one the cabins or if not then take the vacant cabin with your bed roll in it and you can park up beside it.
Check in is after 3pm unless by request we can prepare for you earlier. Check out is at 12 midday please.
Please see directions in ‘Getting Around’ section here. The Pentalina from Gils Bay to St Margarets Hope village is the closest ferry port to Wheems - only a 3 mile drive or a 40 minute walk.
It's best to bring a car although we offer a campervan rental for £70 per day also. Inter-Island Travel - Island transport information can be found at the Orkney public transport website. There are Island bus services, ferries and flights between the islands. For information and booking visit www transport@orkney gov uk
Please keep dogs on a lead as we have a cat (Percy) sheep and chickens on the farm. We don't allow dogs on the futons so please respect this. We weren't able to continue allowing big dogs unfortunately in order to keep the cabins fresh for other guests. There is a sheltered covered area for some tougher dogs on the cabin terrace if they won't mind sleeping outdoors and please request a dog bed if you don't have one with you. If you have a cage for your dog and it will be happy on the sheltered deck of the cabin then you can bring a larger dog.
Enjoy your stay!

I live between Edinburgh and Orkney most of the time and I feel very lucky to live in Scotland.
Wheems Organic Farm Campsite and Eco Cabins is a small family run business. I was brought up at Wheems and it is the most beautiful location I know.
I love to travel and meet new people and we all enjoy having guests at Wheems, to know they are appreciating the view of the sea and the surroundings and it's great when people enjoy the organic food we grow on the farm so much. My Dad Michael and my brother Daniel are based at Wheems organic farm and are very helpful.
My family and I at Wheems Organic Farm are concerned about environmental sustainability, the whole place is powered by renewable energy - wind, solar and ground source and we provide good recycling facilities.
The sunny room in Edinburgh is my house where I live with my boyfriend Duncan, we rent rooms out sometimes when one or both of us are out of the country. When we are out of the country, I am still contactable on an international sim which is cheap to call. Duncan is very laid back and very good natured to live with.
