The Dake House as it is known in the Santa Cruz Historic Registry, was built in 1904 by Clarence Dake with the generous support of his wife’s family money. He was a gentleman farmer and started the first escrow/title business in Santa Cruz. The house sits on a hill overlooking the town of Santa Cruz, the mission and the sweeping views of the Monterey Bay and the Boardwalk. While High Street is centrally located of the main routes to UCSC, most of the 2/3 acre property is surrounded by nature. Red tail hawks soar and perch in the tall trees, deer regularly come by to graze, and the hummingbirds love all the salvias in the garden.
The ‘Heavenly View Room” is large room with a firm, comfortable queen bed on brass bed frame. Located on the second floor, on south side of the house, the room has 10’ coved ceilings, antique lighting, antique desk and dresser, a mini refrigerator in the closet, and a chair. The nearby shared bathroom has a shower, toilet and sink.
This is one bedroom in a 5 bedroom house and the house, including kitchen, most bathrooms, living room, decks, will be shared with other guests and myself (please see details in “Guest Access”).

The “Heavenly View Room” shares most of the facilities of the main house with guests in other 4 bedrooms and myself, including:
*Kitchen (for coffee, light meals, and snacks use).
*Outdoor deck and table
*"Hawks View Perch", a deck with sweeping views of the downtown Santa Cruz, Boardwalk, and Monterey Bay.
*Small Office inside.
*Front Porch and Outdoor Courtyard
*Laundry facilities (not included). Kitchen use for elaborate meals and extensive food preparation is not included.
For liability and maintenance reasons the Hot Tub is not available. There are other rooms and private areas in the house and on the property that are not part of this offering.

*Please speak in whispers outside and inside after 10pm
*You may use the upper deck until 10pm.
*Respectful use of wine & beer is welcome; NO PARTYING
*Smoking (of anything including vape) is not permitted in the room or on the property
*Non-medical use of drugs is not welcome.
*Please no open flames other than the stove top.
*Severe Drought - please use as much as you need, and be careful not to waste our precious resource.
*Please park so that THREE CARS CAN PARK in upper & lower areas.
*Please park in CARPORT ONLY if it is the last remaining space.
