We are often at Esparoutis in the spring and autumn and when we are there we will welcome and orient guests, and be available for advice at any time. We have made some lovely friends through past guests, but respect your privacy unless invited.
The property has two other houses: The Main House and Le Sechoir, which may be rented separately, or all as a single unit, via AirBnB. Please see (URL HIDDEN) for additional details and photographs.
Rental price includes linen & towels
We are in a small, peaceful hamlet of six properties. The neighbours are friendly, although they keep to themselves. We ask that guests respect our neighbours by limiting noise, particularly at lunchtime, in the afternoon when people may be taking a siesta, and later in the evening.

My partner Ien (from Indonesia, brought up in the Netherlands) and I (from Cornwall, UK) own a small group of three houses in the hamlet of Esparoutis in the Dordogne, France, which we renovated from 2008 to 2012. I plan to spend about three months there each year, having retired in early 2015.
I am an Honorary Associate at Sydney University, continuing my work in the Digital Humanities (primarily in data modeling, databases and GIS). My original training was in Archaeology and I spent many summers excavating on archaeological sites around the Dordogne, and three years studying at Bordeaux University.
Ien was an academic in the Netherlands before coming to Australia in the 1990s. She is Professor of Cultural Research at the University of Western Sydney, and until 2014 Director of the Institute for Cultural Studies at UWS.
We love the warm coloured stone villages of the Dordogne, good food and wine, mountains, cycling, camping, renovations (still ...), photography and a wide variety of cultural pursuits. We travel often and widely, generally with a backpack rather than a suitcase (except for work). Travel is much more interesting that way. We're always happy to advise our visitors on how to get the best out of their stay at Esparoutis.
