We warmly welcome you our home in the village of Gilnahirk. We can trace our family roots to this place for nearly 250 years and while the city of Belfast has spread itself around Gilnahirk its still retains its own character and has the feel and benefits of a village.
We have lived in this particular house for over 15 years but have visited the house for over 50 years. The views we think are stunning and we are privileged to be the current custodians of the property.
Now that our family has fledged the nest we have converted the upper floors along with the downstairs entrance and kitchen into a self-contained self-catered apartment. This gives a private space with the benefits of the hosts being near at hand for queries and information.
We hope you enjoy your stay at Piney Ridge.

The space available has its own front door and is self contained. It has stairs so not suitable for everyone.

We live in he main house which has a locked interconnecting door. We will be at hand to sort out any issues and to give you good local advice on attractions, dinning opportunities transportation etc.

Entertainment -
We are close to a number of tourist attractions from the Titanic Quarter and the much visited Titanic Building, a nice walk away from the Parliament Buildings at Stormont with lots of lovely walks, close to the Comber Greenway another great walking route.
Ballyhackamore is an up and coming entertainment centre with numerous restaurants and coffee shops – closer than that we have the Poets bar and restaurant in Cherryvalley 500 metres walk down the hill and the Cineplex centre at Dundonald with 4 screens and a 5 restaurants from American Diner and BBQ through Asian Fusion and Indian cuisine. Just ask and we will give recommendations.
We have a nice garden which you can enjoy, the sun room attached to the office/store is a lovely place to read the papers or have a snooze. We also have a treadmill and exercise bike for those looking to keep up an exercise regime. We have lovely walks up the Rocky Road and we are within 750 metres of the Castlereagh Hills Golf Course which is a public facility operated by the Council and very much welcoming visitors. It also has a restaurant. Also at the top of the Rocky Road is the Hillmount Garden centre great for shopping (it’s not all flowers and plants – its Christmas displays are legendary) and it has a great restaurant – again leaflets available in the lounge.

We have plenty of private parking and we are close to the public transport network. The nearest bus stop is on the middle Braniel Road and a timetable is available in the sitting room. It takes about 40 minutes to go into central Belfast however its just a 10 minute drive

Secure parking and plenty of it, great wifi its BT Infinity secluded private backs on to fields great walks We are certified for 6 guests but we are new to the scene so happy to start with 2 visitors as we find our feet. Our kitchen area is quite small and basic but has fridge/freezer, microwave, single hob, toaster, kettle etc. We provide mainly locally sourced food for you to prepare your own breakfast. We have full clothes washing and drying facilities and a treadmill and exercise bike for use of visitors.

Joy and David's mad us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, dropping everything to help us drop off a rental car. It was certain,y above and beyond the call of duty and we thank them immensely for saving us an expensive taxi ride. The unit is perfect and comfortable and we wish we could have stayed longer. It is a excellent location to explore Belfast and we will return we hope in the not too distant future

In very strained personal circumstances David and Joy were an absolute wonder, more accommodating and welcoming than we could ever have hoped for. The accommodation was spacious, bright and spotless but most importantly for us a peaceful retreat in a perfectly quiet area as well as being incredibly close to where we needed to be. The beds were wonderfully comfortable and the breakfast provisions Joy left out for us were very welcome. We were really fortunate to find not only such fabulous accommodation but also such wonderful sympathetic hosts at the last minute.

It was a very nice stay at Piney Ridge. The hospitality from David and Joy was warm, welcoming and very helpful. The view is extraordinary and everything you need is there, especially lots of space and privacy. We washed our clothes and they have a great room to dry them. A great place to stay and visit Belfast and Northern Ireland.

David & Joy are lovely hosts, very warm and welcoming. The accommodation is excellent, a private apt with plenty of space and facilities, Joy even showed us lots of board games. Great selection of food left out for breakfast, inc a lovely variety of breads & homemade jams. Full kitchen facilities and even some homebaking for us on arrival. It is about 15min from Belfast city by car and easy to find. Great to have free secure parking. I would highly recommend staying at Piney Ridge if you are happy to be a little outside Belfast city centre. thanks David and Joy for your fantastic hospitality

David and Joy were fantastic hosts. They went well above our expectations to ensure that we had a everything we needed for a great stay, including advice on the sites to see in Belfast and Northern Ireland. They made sure to check-in with us, to make sure that we were happy with are stay and answered all of our questions, which were many. When we decided that we needed one additional night, they were more than accommodating, making the process very simple and reasonable. The unit itself was lovely, with three comfortable beds in two rooms, and an office that it perfect for a little evening reading or work. The place also comes equipped with a kitchen that serves all of purposes that you should need in any airbnb stay. They even provided some tasty little desserts and bread to make our stay even better. ] The only downfall, was not the fault of the hosts, but rather the taxi drivers. The house is located in a suburb of Belfast, so we used taxis to get to town and back. This was fine most of the time, but apparently there is another place in the vicinity with the same address. Make sure that you include the postal code in your instructions to the taxi drivers. Also, I highly recommend FonaCab over ValueCab. The FonaCab drivers were able to follow our instructions to find the house, whereas ValueCab drivers went to the wrong locations on multiple occasions, which was a major inconvenience. Aside from the mishaps by ValueCab, this place was great! Amazing hosts, in a lovely tranquil setting, close to the wonderful area of Belfast and Northern Ireland. Five Stars for sure!
