À propos de ce logement
Rustic and secluded, at the top of a box canyon we are adjacent to the National Forest, yet are a 5 minute walk to Big Bear Village shops and restaurants. Adventure awaits on nearby hiking and Mtn. biking trails, or kick back for a nap on the deck.
This is our family "cabin in the woods" where adventure or vegging will vie for your attention. We are close to Big Bear Village, forest hiking or biking trails, Big Bear Lake, and Snow Summit/Bear Mtn ski areas.
As a photographer and artist we have furnished Snow Point with vintage sports related treasures and CCBender Photography's original black and white photographs as well as family heirlooms.
The inviting deck will seduce you into an afternoon nap, but the village and trails deserve exploration too.
The "bridge" and the hearth are the two features that captured our hearts the moment we set foot in this unconventional cabin. Hopefully they will for you as well.
Rumor has it that the house was owned in the 50's by a Hollywood producer who hosted many outrageous guests. You will notice some names and writing on the wood rafters. We have chosen to leave these but are NOT inviting any new additions...
All the bedrooms are upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs. The master has a CalKing bed, the green room has two twin beds, and the sky room has one twin and a twin trundle which should not be raised, just keep it low. The 6th bed is a queen pull-out couch in the great room.
There is a charcoal BBQ on the deck as well as patio furniture.
You will have phone service if you are a Verizon customer (they are the carrier with the most coverage in the Big Bear area), however, there is a landline in the cabin.
Accès des voyageurs
The entire cabin is yours for the duration of your stay except for the storage beneath the stairs. Feel free to use the "snow trackers", snow boards, trekking poles, fishings poles, new snowshoes (not the vintage ones hanging on the wall), ALL AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! And know that if there is any damage, or theft, we expect you to be like a kindergartner and replace what you break or lose, or... These are our toys, we use them, we like to share, BE COOL!
Échanges avec les voyageurs
We will be available by phone 24-7 and either we or friends in the area will respond to your needs should something arise.
This is a quiet canyon. Please enjoy the deck, but be considerate about late nights.
It is a short walk into the village with many charming shops- Ô Kôô Rän, Room to Room, Le Muse Vintage Boutique.
Delicious dining - Himalayan Restaurant, Peppercorn Grille, El Jacalito, The Village Sweet Shoppe, Paolio's.
The Cave- a truly one-of-a-kind concert and comedy venue in the heart of Big Bear- is within an easy walk.
Snow Summit is a 5 minute drive away an there is summertime Mtn biking access to the lifts.
Bear Mtn is 10 minutes away. Your lift tickets can be used at both areas.
Walk, ride your bike, or Uber...
Snow Point Retreat is in the canyon that was home to the very first ski area in Big Bear, Snow Forest. It is now a great place to sled in the winter since the old T-bars have been removed. The slopes provide easy access to trails where you instantly feel like you are in the back-country;or for more adventure, just wander the forest. It is pretty open and easy to navigate and you will find old ski area "roads" or what were catwalks.
We hope your stay at Snow Point will be treasured and memory-making, it has been for us for 12 years. Please treat our home as you would if your parents were watching.
There is NO SMOKING allowed anywhere. You will be living at the edge of a drought-stricken forest, be fire aware!
The small glass photo collages on the wood tables are part of the host's artwork made from family photos and are coasters for you to use to protect the wood. Please, use them under your glasses.
Only domesticated, house-broken pets are OK with PRIOR approval. Pets that chew on furniture, bedding, clothes, things, or incontinence are unacceptable. You must clear with us before bringing a pet along on your visit.
Firewood: As you can tell by the steps we need to traverse, it is an arduous task bringing firewood up to the cabin. We want you to enjoy the ambiance of a burning hearth, but please be reasonable in your consumption of the firewood, or bring up your own and rock-out!
BEWARE of the Indoor STAIRS: They are steeper than you think, do not wear socks at night when walking down. Hold-on to the handrail!
Do Not lock the security doors from the inside, in the event of a fire it will be too difficult to escape.
Si vous annulez jusqu'à 7 jours avant le voyage, vous recevez un remboursement à hauteur de 50 % et les frais de service vous sont remboursés intégralement.
I am a photographer/mixed media artist/outdoor enthusiast. I am married to my best friend, Marc. We have three adult children, three grandchildren and a cherished golden retriever, Zoe.
As a photojournalist, my passion has always been photography and I was fortunate enough to make my living doing what I love. Most of the photographs in the cabin are my black & white originals.
When not shooting, making lamps or jewelry, Marc and I can be found out trail running, or Mt. biking with Zoe, or spending time with the family.
