Accès des voyageurs
Guests have access to the entire house and grounds. There is a charcoal grill for guests to use outside in the summer, and there is a fireplace inside the house for guests to use in the winter. (We ask guests to only use Duraflame-type (non-wood) logs in the fireplace to prevent the house from getting too smoky; we will provide one log per day of your stay at no extra charge, and you are welcome to bring additional logs with you or you can buy them in New Paltz.)
Pool usage: Barry reserves the right to use the swimming pool when he is in town on occasion and will make every effort to respect the renters' privacy.
Property maintenance: We have someone who services the pool on a weekly basis and we have a gardening company who waters the plants as needed and cuts the lawn on a weekly basis. You may see them during your stay doing the work needed to keep the property looking beautiful :)

Barry has a house nearby and is happy to interact with guests if they desire. Because he has owned the property for 42 years, he is familiar with nearby restaurants and the sights and events of the Hudson Valley. Winnie (Barry's daughter) also lives nearby. She manages the reservations, greets guests upon arrival, and can provide information, instructions, and answer questions about the house.
The house very comfortably accommodates up to 4 people in the two bigger bedrooms. The third bedroom has a smaller, double-size bed and can accomodate 1-2 people.
There are two staircases. The staircase which goes from the main floor to the upstairs master bedroom and mezzanine is designed with open treads and is curved. The consequence is that there is open space between the side edges of each step and the walls and there is also open space between each step and the one above it.
We have a non-attachable-type baby gate at the house, but do suggest you bring additional baby gate(s) if you have babies/toddlers to keep them safe inside the house. Note that the open stairs, along with the fact that the house has a swimming pool, may mean it is not an appropriate rental for all people with small children.
The stairs may also be a problem for individuals who are older, or those who have problems with mobility. These are things about the house that we want you to know before you make a reservation.
Names and and contact info for all persons staying at the house must be provided prior to your stay.
The property has extraordinarily beautiful landscaping. To keep deer from damaging trees and flowers, we require that the gate be kept closed.
Smoking is not permitted inside the house. Parties are not permitted inside or outside the house. Pets are not permitted, unless your dog is very small and permission has been granted before your stay.
We are extremely conscious about our impact on the environment. For this reason, we ask that our guests do their best to conserve energy. Please keep windows and doors closed when the air conditioner is running, only use the dishwasher and washing machine with full loads, and protect our flowers and plants by keeping the gate closed.
Early and late check ins may be arranged in advance. Extra late check out may also be arranged in advance.
Please leave the house exactly how you found it.
I was the chef/owner of a well known 4 star restaurant in New York City and currently am a consultant in the hospitality industry and as a hobby, paint, make jewelry and sculptures and collect books. The stone house is part of a 12.5 acre compound that I have owned for 42 years. There is a second home on the property, a converted Dutch Barn built in 1770, that I use as a weekend retreat. I have always been a pioneer and innovator and enjoy the role of host.
