Le logement

Our home is located in the heart of Historic Mystic between the Mystic Museum of Art and Captain Daniel Packer Inn and is within easy walking distance to all Downtown Mystic restaurants, shops and attractions.

Our historic 2-bedroom home offers both late 19th century charm and 21st century convenience. It is fully furnished and decorated with an eclectic collection of Americana, period pieces, folk art, curiosities and other items of local interest. The doors are a bit crooked, the floors slant and the glass in most of the windows is wavy. But you will also find an electronic entry system, High-speed internet access, Wi-Fi, HDTV and state-of the art heating and A/C.

On the main floor you will enjoy a fully appointed galley kitchen equipped with a range/oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and microwave oven. You will also find a coffee maker, toaster, pots, pans, dishes and cooking/eating utensils. There is generous seating in both the dining and living room areas together with remotely controlled lighting and ceiling fans.

Bedrooms and bathroom are located on the second floor where you will also find a cozy reading nook with its own great view of the Mystic River. Both bedrooms have queen size beds, a comfortable sitting area, dresser drawers with full size mirrors and plenty of closet space. Additional sleeping accommodation can also be found in the living room on a queen size sofa bed. The bathroom includes a full-size tub/shower combination and custom vanity/sink. Bedding, linens and bath towels are provided for the number of guests listed in your reservation.

There is a highchair in the kitchen, a Pack and Play crib in the rear bedroom, a crate of juvenile toys in the reading nook and plenty of books, books and more books.

The elevated front veranda offers an awesome view of the Mystic River and is a great place for people watching. There is a large rear deck with table, chairs and gas grill right at the foot of historic St. Jago Ledge if you prefer a more intimate setting.

We provide on-site parking for two vehicles or a vehicle with a modest boat trailer. There is a public boat launch less than a minute's walk from the front door and transient dockage at Downtown Mystic Marina directly across the street .

Mystic is a unique New England village straddling the Mystic River. The portion of the village on the right (west) bank was originally known as Mystic River and is part of the town of Groton CT. The left bank was originally known as Mystic Bridge and is a part of the town of Stonington CT. Downtown Mystic River is comprised of Water Street, West Main Street, Pearl Street and Gravel Street. East Main Street, Holmes Street and Cottrell Street make up the Mystic Bridge side of the village. Walking is the best way to get around downtown and all of downtown is within easy walking distance from our home. In season, day and dinner cruises aboard the Argia sailing ship along the river and around Fishers Island Sound are sure to make your Mystic visit a most memorable experience.

Whether you prefer walking, biking, water taxi or shuttle, you are only minutes away from restaurants, shopping, multi-denominational houses of worship, Mystic Seaport Museum and Mystic Aquarium.

It is a short drive to the historic fishing village of Stonington Borough home to Capt. Palmer discoverer of Antarctica, Fort Griswold Revolutionary War battle site on the Groton Bank, Fort Trumbull that fell to an assault instigated by Benedict Arnold, Submarine Museum home of the USS Nautilus, the first nuclear powered submarine and first submarine to navigate beneath the North Pole, Bluff Point State Park, Haley Farm State park, Barn Island Wildlife Preserve, Watch Hill RI and some of the best ocean beaches on the Atlantic coast. And yes, it is but a short drive to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos.

Our property is a short 5-minute drive from I-95 Exit 89. The route through downtown from Exit 90 will take a bit longer but is probably worth the extra time for a first time visitors eager to take a driving tour through our little village.
T.F. Green International (Providence/Warwick RI) is about a 45-minute drive;
Bradley International Airport (Hartford/Springfield) is approximately a 1hr 20m drive;
Logan International (Boston) is only a 2hr drive.
If you're coming by train to New London you'll have a 15-minute drive;
By train to Westerly RI it's about a 25-minute drive;
If you take the train to Mystic Depot you'll have a 10-minute walk from the depot to the property but it will undoubtedly take a bit longer as you take in the sites of this historic village.

Michael's house was wonderfully located very close to all the restaurants, bars and local attractions. I took my parents who were visiting me in NYC and they loved it! There is a driveway so parking was not an issue. The house itself is beautifully done and has all the amenities you need. My first trip to CT and can't wait to come back. Would certainly stay here again! Thank you

I've alway felt that when visiting an area with so much history, it is good to find lodging that has been part of that history. Michael and Dawn's house is exactly that. It is also located right in downtown Mystic with a great living room view of the harbor, complete with masts and buoys in the background. It starts with large front porch from which to watch passers-by and enjoy the view of the water.The two bedrooms are comfortable and well-appointed, the bathroom has modern fixtures, the kitchen is small but well appointed and the dining room is comfortable and charming, and the back deck is a great place for drinks or meals. Our adult daughter slept on the pull out couch in the living room and loved it. We highly recommend this house to other travelers.

We had a great time in Mystic and loved Michael's house. Since we had a lot of rain one day we especially appreciated the games and toys for the kids.

We were in town for parent's weekend at the Coast Guard Academy. Booking was easy: Michael acknowledged our request to stay right away and sent a message with all of the check in guidelines. We happened to arrive a few hours early-- a quick call to Michael and he arranged a much appreciated earlier check in for us. The place was clean, had everything we needed to cook at 'home', charmingly decorated, and in a great location (walkable to all of downtown Mystic and across from the marina). The grill and back deck made for a perfect evening catching up with our son. We're headed back up in a few weeks and are sorry Michaels place isn't available, but will definitely be checking the availability for future trips!

Wonderful! Incredible! Beautiful! We couldn't believe our luck at finding such a comfortable and charming place to stay so close to the beautiful downtown area. Our host left us detailed and easy to follow directions and information on an assortment of local attractions. We thoroughly enjoyed having our morning coffee on the front porch while enjoying the sunrise each morning we were in town. It was such a relaxing and enjoyable place to stay. Our only regret was not having more time to enjoy the amenities. We're already talking about trying to return to the area next year with hopes of staying here again.

For the past several years I've been renovating historic properties with my son Kevin and wife Dawn. Our first project was an 1880 three-family Greek Revival home in the village of Pawcatuck in the town of Stonington CT. Our latest project is an 1845 two-family Greek Revival in the village of Mystic CT in the town of Groton CT. We get great pleasure from rescuing these properties and making them available for the enjoyment of our guests.
