Mailhac is a quiet historic village surrounded by vineyards yet close to many amenities, including quality restaurants and the famous Canal du Midi. The Med. resorts and etangs are within an hour's drive where you can sample a wide variety of seafood
This two-bedroom gite forms part of a magnificent medieval stone village house which dates back to around the 12c which the present owners, Rob and Sue, enjoy as a second home. One of the previous owners during the 1970s was the great nephew of Field Marshall Montgomery of Alamein fame (more usually referred to as 'Monty').
The gite is situated on a quiet pedestrianised street with the benefit of nearby parking, with a self-contained access. The entrance leads into one of the bedrooms, comprising a double bed (4ft.) with en-suite shower room. This room has the benefit of a single futon to allow separate sleeping arrangements. From here stairs lead up to the first floor where there is the charming main double bedroom and the kitchen which has double French doors leading onto a small balcony with additional table and chairs. The kitchen is well equipped with a cooker combining a four-ring gas hob and oven, tall fridge with freezer compartment and microwave. Immediately adjoining the kitchen is a bathroom comprising bath/shower, wash hand basin and bidet; there is a separate WC compartment. A further flight of stairs leads up to a large sitting room with French doors leading out to a terrace which provides both sun and shade. There is a second terrace which has a beautiful south-west rooftop vista. PLEASE NOTE; As access is up an external staircase we require children to be over 8 years old.o
Although Mailhac is a small village, it does have a general shop and a bar. Supermarkets etc. can be found nearby and as already mentioned there are many excellent restaurants nearby.
It has it's own swimming pool which is open during July and August and a recently refurbished children's play area.
Non-smokers only please

Sue and her husband, Rob, live in the Surrey Hills and are semi-retired. Sue is a Podiatrist with her own practice where she now works part-time together with her younger son. Rob is a Chartered Surveyor, now working, when he's not enjoying himself in France, as a Planning and Design Consultant.
Since first discovering this area over 25 years ago and falling in love with the Languedoc region, they have restored one home and have now settled in Mailhac. They are big 'foodies' so love the fact that there are so many terrific restaurants nearby and wonderful walking territory to burn off the calories!
