Sorry to hear you were not pleased with your experience. We are a bit confused by your review. Unfortunately, Airbnb does not currently collect the local occupancy tax in our area. SLO County is in negotiations with Airbnb. After October 1st, Airbnb is expected to start the collection of the occupancy tax when the guest books. After October 1, we will no longer have to collect the local occupancy tax from the guest when they arrive. All legitimate Airbnb’s in SLO County must be registered with the county, obtain a business license, and collect a local occupancy tax of 12% (just like the hotels). A receipt would have been happily provided if requested. The collection of a 12% occupancy tax is clearly stated in the first paragraph of our listing. This was also communicated to you the day you requested a booking. Since you booked 9 weeks ahead of your visit, you had ample time to consider all other options.
Per our 200 plus reviews, we offer a clean and comfortable place to sleep that is an excellent value. We provide a continental breakfast, fully stocked bathroom with amenities for travelers, and if requested, details on local (and state wide) activities. You seemed to enjoy all we had to offer. It would be great if Airbnb had a better way to screen guests. Caution indeed.
