Sandpiper Haven is truly a bird watcher's paradise with floating flocks of resident and migratory water fowl and overhead visits by a neighboring family of eagles. For the seafood lovers, try mussel and clam digging and enjoy fishing just steps from the back door. Qualified Guests can borrow the two kayaks and 12' Rowboat to explore the Cove on calm days during Peak Season at no additional charge. We only reserve this way about a month or so in advance, however, we are easy to reach via other methods so if you are looking for trips later than what is open, we look forward to hearing from you.

You can find us easily through the electronic world if you want to contact us directly in advance of your Booking. Airbnb does not allow this direct information through their platform. We are not available to "show you around" but provide our Guests with a wealth of ideas before their stay to prepare them for a wonderful trip to Whidbey Island and stay at Sandpiper Haven. The day brings beautiful views of boats, seals and otters playing in the water, and of the snowy peaks of the Olympic Mountains rising in the distance beyond the shores of Penn Cove. To the east catch glimpses of the Cascade Mountains as well. The house is south facing to capture the warmth of the sun on a large private deck in fair weather, or inspire romance watching storm-churned waves while comfortably seated by the large stone gas fireplace.
Evenings can be spent outside by a private firepit roasting marshmallows, curled up with a book on super comfy new living furniture by a gas fireplace, playing games and doing puzzles with friends and family, or watching a movie on the HDTV with cable, Roku and complimentary Netflix and Amazon Prime, or old school with a modest DVD library and DVD player.
Or, you may prefer an evening out with great dining options in Coupeville, Langley, Oak Harbor and beyond.
Enjoy access to the local heated outdoor community pool as our Guest Memorial Day Weekend and Mid-June through Labor Day. Separate waiver by our local private community is required to access the pool.
The house sleeps up to 5 comfortably (6 by exception), and generally best for groups up to 4, with a heavenly pillow-top Queen Bed in the Master, and two twins in the 2nd bedroom. A new sleeper sofa with additional memory foam topper in the Living Room. We even provide a portable crib and bedding for infants. Dine comfortably inside or out.
An outdoor private promontory allows you to get further away from it all, boasting even more fabulous 180+ degree views down the beach and across Penn Cove.
Action seekers may kayak the cove or explore the many hiking and bike trails within minutes from the house. Bring your own boat or jet ski and launch it from our private community-owned boat launch and dock just several houses from the property.
The house was built in 2003 so is well-insulated and perfect for year-round.
The historic waterfront town of Coupeville, visible across the cove, can be reached in minutes by car. Oak Harbor, to the North, is also minutes away for major shopping amenities and restaurants. And to the West lies Historical Ebey's Landing Preserve and the nearby Coupeville Ferry with service to historic Port Townsend. Greenbank Winery, antiques shops, galleries, the town of Langley, and Deception Pass are also nearby.
Best suited for: families, romantic getaways, couples retreats, girls weekends away, small reunions, great stays when attending a wedding, holiday gatherings, anniversary present for the grandparents, rewards for employees, adventure-seekers, and many more.

FYI- all Guests will be required to electronically sign an additional Rental Agreement Contract with Sandpiper Haven, LLC prior to access. This will come to you via a company called CudaSign. This waiver is required in addition to the Airbnb signed documents at time of payment. This document will be forwarded via email after your booking since we don't have access to your contact info until after you book. Should you have questions, please contact us directly prior to booking, we are easy to find through many means in the electronic world. Thank you for respecting this.
We have an absolute policy about NO SMOKING and NO PETS. We are a low-allergen home and provide a hepa-filter and allergy covers to pillows. Please do not ask about pets. We also cannot accommodate large groups or weddings.
We have some basic house rules and regulations which we will email you in detail after your booking. If you have any issues with these, contact us right away. Silence means compliance. These rules include simple courtesies such as starting the dishwasher, taking out the trash, turning down the heat, and starting a load of laundry prior to check-out, amongst a few other items. These simple steps help keep our cleaning fees reasonable and are very much appreciated (we'd hope you'd treat your mom's house the same way....) Thank you. -Julie and Peter

We have two kids and love the out of doors and the Pacific Northwest. We try and create vacation homes that we, too, love to visit and want our Guests to come back to year after year! Thank you for choosing our home for your stay.
