Description

Charming, private attic suite in the heart of the hip Cooper-Young neighborhood! This private, bright, and eclectic two-bedroom suite comfortably sleeps four and includes comfy queen and full beds, living area, and full bathroom with clawfoot tub. Easily walkable to Midtown restaurants, bars, and shops.

Welcome to the charming and airy top floor of my 1918 Victorian home, a roomy finished attic with sloped ceilings, great light, and fun nooks and crannies!

Come on in through the shared main house entrance--then head upstairs to your private space! The roomy suite has two bedrooms (one with a queen-sized bed, the other with a full-sized bed), a living area with TV, and a full bathroom. The door to the stairs locks for extra privacy. (Please note that if you have trouble with stairs, this space may not be best for you.)

The upstairs living room joins the two bedrooms and includes a well-stocked bookshelf, a Roku-enabled "smart" TV, and a comfortable, adorable vintage floral sofa. The space is decorated with original and vintage artwork and furniture sourced from around Memphis.

Also upstairs is your private bathroom, with clawfoot tub. Please note that the tub is great for soaking, but you must step over the side to get in. Also, because of the sloped walls, the shower is a bit short. I hope the newly updated shower head will make up for that!

Memphis is a train town, and the house is located about five blocks from the tracks, so you might hear the whistle as a train passes through at night. I've provided disposable ear plugs for you--please help yourself if you need them!

You are welcome to use the kitchen, located on the main floor in the back of the house, including refrigerator, vintage 1950s stove, and all cooking tools and utensils. Guests are also welcome to use the laundry room, dining room, and front porch.

Guests have access to the upstairs attic floor, which includes two bedrooms, living area, and bathroom (please do not enter the closed storage closets). Downstairs, make yourself at home in the kitchen, laundry room, and dining room and on the excellent front porch.

I work from home, so I'm often home during the day and will do my best to meet you when you arrive. When I'm not working, I love chatting with guests when we cross paths in the house; if you hate small talk and prefer your privacy, that is also fine! Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions or would like any Memphis recommendations.

I always have a pot of coffee going in the morning--please help yourself to coffee or tea!

My five-year-old daughter shares the downstairs space with me. The attic suite is pretty well soundproofed, but please be respectful of her bedtime (around 8 pm) while using the downstairs spaces. Thank you!

Cooper Young is eclectic and fun, full of adorable vintage houses with shady front porches, stately old trees, and friendly neighbors. It's artistic, creative, and diverse. One of the few neighborhoods in Memphis that is truly walkable! Great bars, restaurants, and shops are just down the street.

Cooper Young was named one of the Ten Great Neighborhoods of 2012 by American Planners Association. Forbes Magazine named Memphis a Great Urban Weekend Escape in 2012 and National Geographic listed Memphis as 1 of 20 "Best Trips" for 2013.

Also walkable to the nearby Liberty Bowl Stadium and Tiger Lane!

Guests are within walking distance of some of the best restaurants and bars in Memphis. Also, we are a 10 minute drive by car to downtown attractions like Beale Street, Sun Studio, Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid, the National Civil Rights Museum, and the Stax Museum. We are 15 minutes from Graceland and 10 minutes to the airport. Car (rental or your own), Lyft, and Uber are great bets for getting around Memphis. MATA bus routes are only one block away. On Fridays and Saturdays, the Ride the Roo shuttle travels between Cooper Young and the many restaurants, bars, shops, and theatres of Overton Square! Only $2 per ride, or buy a pass for the evening for $5. Ride the Roo operates from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday, and there is a stop two blocks away.

We have a big orange cat named Friend, and he is very friendly, as his name implies! :) Please do not let him go outside, no matter how nicely he asks! If you would prefer that Friend not enter the upstairs suite, please be sure to shut and lock the door at the foot of the stairs.

Règlement intérieur
Non fumeur
Ne convient pas aux animaux
Pas de fête ni de soirée
L'entrée dans les lieux se fait après 16:00

Check-in is at or after 4 p.m. and check-out is at noon, but this is flexible. Let me know if you'd like to make other arrangements!

Please keep the front door locked at all times. You will be issued one key. When you are home, please only lock the top lock of the front door--please do not lock the bottom lock, because you might lock me out! The back yard gate should remain closed at all times.

No smoking indoors, please! You may smoke on the front porch using the ashtrays.

Please do not invite other guests to our home without advance notice.

Please do not use the downstairs bathroom or enter the downstairs bedrooms.

No pets, please. Please note that a cat (named Friend) does live here as well! He is mostly an indoor cat, so please do not let him outside, no matter how nicely he asks. :)

When checking out, you may leave sheets and towels in place.

Please return your key before departure. If I am not home when you depart, please put the key through the mail slot on the front porch.

I am a Memphis transplant going on 10 years in this fair city! I love Memphis, and enjoy discovering new-to-me barbecue restaurants and taco trucks in my adopted hometown. I love hunting for treasures at junk stores, keeping my garden alive, and knitting on the sofa while watching Netflix.
