The three-bedroom luxury apartment Aria is situated in the house only some ten metres away from the west facade of the Diocletian's palace. It is one of the several remaining houses from the first small residential area that was built due to expansion of the Palace in the 14th century and is the unique cultural heritage as it is the only house left in the old city core not leaning against any other. In the 16th century the house was joined from two typical Romanesque houses and thus turned into new renaissance whole. Its eastern part was expanded in the 18th century, when the house got its today's overall dimensions. In the structure of its walls there are also recycled stone blocks from the Palace itself. During the restoration of the third floor three years ago the constructions between floors were exchanged, the walls were reinforced and mortar was made with the authentic materials. The valuable details of the historic duration were found hidden by later interventions. One of them is the unique piece of altar partition wall from the 8th century, now built into the living room wall. There are also two Gothic capitals and a fragment of an antique bead- moulding of the Palace. Thus the foundation of this apartment is a museum of the historical beginnings of the city Split of its kind.
The apartment was fully restored for living by owners three years ago. During summer holidays it is in the function of earning money for the completing the roof of the house, since the Croatian politics does not give any subsidy for that although the house is under UNESCO protection.
We hope you will enjoy your holidays in this beautiful city and our apartment knowing that the earned money will be invested in the apartment itself.
Welcome and enjoy your stay in Dalmatia!
