New (built in 2015) and comfortable 2 bedroom Caribbean/contemporary style, two story jungle house built with ecological choices of wood and concrete and a huge jungle garden where you can spot all the Costa Rican nature. The house has a lockable fully equipped kitchen, open plan dining area and lounge complete with sofa and chairs and hammock. Upstairs there are two small double bedrooms with closets and a modern bathroom complete with hot water. There is a terrace to relax and read a book or to spot all the nature our gardens have to offer, including howler and capuchin monkeys, sloths, parrots, hummingbirds and of course (if you are very lucky) Jaguars. Casa Rio is suitable for 2 to 4 people and is located just 350 meters from the colorful village of Manzanillo and its white sandy beach and just steps away from the National Park Gandoca. Professional guides are to be found in the village of Manzanillo to take you to places within the National Park to see more of Costa Rica’s beautiful nature, if you haven’t seen enough from our property.

The large jungle garden is kept beautifully and there is a good pathway directly from the parking area to the house.

There is a caretaker (Spanish speaking) on the property who are very helpful and will help with your laundry, horse riding or bicycle rental.

Manzanillo is a gorgeous stretch of coconut palm-lined beaches of the Caribbean Sea which meets the pristine jungles. The village is just a few miles from the border of Panama. It is a relatively quiet fishing village where you can catch your own fish to eat, or you could ask one of the local fishermen to catch your fish for you to cook on your own barbecue. The houses are all different and are in the typical Caribbean colours.

Manzanillo is named after an ancient tree which stood in the village in the 1940s. Nowadays, it is one of the latest coolest, hip places to be on the Caribbean side – perfect for a quiet getaway – and has a unique atmosphere. It is an up-coming village with many new sodas, restaurants, shops and other businesses appearing so fast, it would be impossible to list them. The reef is just 200 metres offshore and you can scuba dive and see most of Costa Rica’s sea life. There are approximately 500 hectares of coral reefs that are abound with brightly coloured fish, sea anemones, sea urchins, sponges, lobsters and other marine creatures.
