Le logement
Il Cielo has been lovingly restored, maintaining its original features of the 1800s, full of Tuscan antiques and comfort, and making it an exceedingly quaint and charming accommodation. The apartment is fully equipped with so many things you would never expect to find on a vacation—you will really feel like you are at home.

When you enter the town home from the street level there is an foyer and staircase, decorated with restored farm implements and a collection of antique keys. Halfway up to the first level above there is a little half-bathroom with toilet and basin. Upstairs, in the apartment we call "Il Cielo", there are two double bedrooms with queen-sized beds (either or both of which can be prepared with two twin beds if you prefer), a living room with a comfortable sofa and two armchairs, a spacious bathroom with a built-in shower, and a country kitchen with dining table, television, and fireplace. The kitchen has everything one needs to prepare delicious meals, and includes a dishwasher, microwave, toaster, electric kettle and coffeemakers.

Halfway up from Il Cielo is a laundry room with washing machine, ironing board, laundry sink and clothes drying rack. The laundry facilities are shared with guests staying in Il Nido.

On the top level is a private rooftop terrace with table and chairs, kitchen herbs growing in vases, and a barbecue. There are views of the village's bell tower and medieval center of the village. The view extends partially beyond the village buildings and gives a glimpse out to the Val d'Orcia. All the windows of the house have window screens and look out onto either charming vistas of the surrounding countryside or quaint views of the village.

"Il Cielo" has independent heating and air conditioning, free Wi-Fi connection, satellite TV with English stations, and electric fans. The total size is about 1076 square feet.

Experience real Tuscany independently, but with expert assistance from Isabella, who owns and manages Il Cielo and Il Nido. Enrich your week with an authentic taste of Tuscan traditions and culture. Wonderful activities are planned from which you can choose, and Isabella will assist you in creating memories you will cherish forever, making your stay an experience like no other.

Life in rural Tuscany reveals centuries of time left unchanged and people who have lived always in tune with nature and the rhythm of life. Castelmuzio is a quintessential medieval hill town—seductive in its simplicity and with a charm that will captivate your heart. At Il Cieolo you will live as a local, side-by-side with Tuscan people who will warm your heart with kindness and smiles. You will live in peace and harmony—surrounded by beautiful vistas of Tuscan hills full of olive orchards and vineyards which have been farmed for generations by these same families you see around you—strong but gentle people who are as much of the landscape as the fruit of their labors.

This tiny town with its central location, completely off the tourist track, is only a few minutes away from Pienza and Tuscany’s most photographed region, the Val d’Orcia. Within 25 minutes you can be in the heart of the world-famous wine regions of Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Easy day trips can be made to Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Orvieto, Cortona, and Assisi.

Où se situe le logement

Castelmuzio, Toscana, Italie

Castelmuzio is off the beaten path, and yet close to everything! Italy’s major highway (A1) that runs from Rome to Florence is only 18 km away!

It is located close to the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Val d'Orcia Artistic, Natural and Cultural Park. These coveted designations are protecting this area’s cultural and artistic heritage and its miracle of nature called the "crete senesi", a countryside characterized by undulating ploughed hills and densely forested woods.

Castelmuzio is set in the same luscious landscape used so often for movie sets, photo calendars, book covers and postcards. The terrain is rich with gray-green olive groves, geometrical vineyards, and breathless punctuations of tall slender dark green cypress trees. Its beauty is savored best by meandering the secondary (white) roads that wend their way through the hills, stone farmhouses, and poppy fields.

This tiny medieval village is centered in the land of prized D.O.P. olive oil, Brunello and Vino Nobile wine, white truffles, pecorino cheese, and wild boar.

Castelmuzio is a mesmerizing medieval hamlet and precious treasure of the real Tuscany. It can provide you with opportunities for unforgettable day excursions and, in the evening, relaxation and immersion in the local culture.

Today Castelmuzio is a medieval Tuscan gem, with 200 residents and everything you could want to make this little hamlet "your home away from home"! Although you will find very little English spoken in Castelmuzio, you WILL find enormous Italian charm, very little tourism, a great deal of kindness, and some gentle curiosity from the local people.

A friendly coffee bar and restaurant with a traditional menu and tasty pizza is right in the middle of the village inside the 15th century tower. The restaurant’s open-air seating puts you right in the middle of village activity. In this warm and friendly place you can pretend you are living in a Tuscan village centuries ago. In the late afternoon the local residents will gather here after promenading along the main avenue of the village. Join them and practice your italiano! They will appreciate any effort you make to speak with them.

Fresh vegetables, delicious pecorino cheese, meats, and wine can be purchased just a few steps away at the Coop grocery store.

Living in Castelmuzio is so easy!

I grew up as aa big-city girl from Milan. Many years ago I traded my high heels and business suits for what I believe is the “real” dolce vita--life in the Val d'Orcia. I have traveled extensively, speak four languages, and thoroughly love to be with people from different cultures. My main priority is to meet the many needs of my guests, making certain they have an experience they will never forget. Our family has owned and managed several vacation properties in the area of Pienza, Castelmuzio and the Val d'Orcia for several decades: Le Casine di Castello, Casa Moricciani, and Agriturismo Cretaiole. We have experience, local knowledge and a good reputation for helping travelers really experience Tuscany in a deep way.
