Renovated, non-smoking studio located on the 29th floor of the Hawaiian Monarch in Waikiki with views of ocean and Diamond Head. Walking distance to Waikiki beaches/shopping/restaurants, Ala Moana Shopping Center, Hilton Hawaiian Village, and the Hawaii Convention Center. This is a small studio, ideal for one or two guests maximum and is not appropriate for small children. We also have a larger adjoining unit available.

The Building:

Hawaiian Monarch is a 44-story, 144-unit condo/hotel built in 1979 and conveniently located at the western (“Ewa") end of Waikiki between Ala Wai Boulevard and the intersections of Ala Moana Boulevard and Kalakaua Avenue. The common areas, reception desk, and 50 of the 144 units are managed by the Hawaiian Monarch hotel and the remainder of the units are privately owned (some occupied by long-term residents and others being used as vacation rentals). This is a secure building with 24/7 security on site and keycard-only access to the elevators and above the lobby area. The building also has an attached parking garage but it is privately owned and not associated with either the condo or the hotel.

This is a non-smoking unit. Please smoke only in designated areas located outside of the building. A $250 cleaning charge will be assessed for guests who do not comply with this policy in order to return the unit to a smoke-free condition.

Please be mindful not to leave any food out that will attract uninvited pests.

All guests must register with building security and show their ID.

No parties, no additional overnight guests.

Do not engage in illegal activities anywhere on the property.

If you break or damage something, please let us know so that we can arrange for its replacement or repair.

Please leave all keycards on the dresser upon checkout. Any misplaced key will incur a $25 charge per keycard as we will need to purchase another from building security.

Small place, but had everything we needed for a great stay. It was close to restaurants but not on the main streets so it was much quieter.

We stayed at Jackie and Matt's for 4 nights, and although we never got to meet them personally, we had absolutely no problems in communications with them. These are the pro and cons that we took away after our stay at their place: Pros - 1. The place was tiny but clean,they have great views of the city and the water. The kitchenette is enough for making breakfast in the morning, if you should want to. We didn't face any trouble in retrieving the key cards from the instructions that Jackie and Matt left for us, and check in was relatively smooth. All our queries were promptly answered and Jackie and Matt were helpful in providing links and Information to us even before we got their place. 2.Good location. The place is within and easy and pleasant walking distance (15-20mins) of Waikiki beach and all the restaurants and eateries of that area. It was also safe and active at all times of the day and night, and we felt perfectly comfortable walking around at night. 3. Accessibility. We had a car for most of the days, but on the day that we didn't, we used the bus service which is about 3 mins from their place, for our visit to Diamond Head. Once again, it was a quick and easy ride. Speaking of cars, they have a parking garage right next door. It is kind of pricey but useful in a pinch if you can't find anything else. Cons : 1. The location of the apartment is within the building which houses the hotel, The Hawaiian Monarch. While part of the building is given out for the hotel, the other parts are owned as condos and also sometimes rented out by the owners as airbnbs. As such the facilities - the pool, laundry etc, are shared with the hotel guests (which isn't a far as I could check from the website of the hotel however, the prices for the hotel rooms (queen bed) were almost, if not slightly lesser, than that charged by Jackie and Matt. I was a bit taken aback by that because as far as I understand, among other aspects, airbnbs can charge lesser because they don't provide you with the incidental costs that come with a hotel stay (staff, cleaning, etc). But I found that the total cost of the airbnb here was higher than the similarly placed hotel rooms, and that was a surprise to me, for I hadn't seen that before in my years as an airbnb traveler. 2. While the room that we stayed in was quite fine, and we had no issue with that, the building itself is quite old. The elevators took forever to arrive, and if there are more than 4 floor numbers punched into the keypad, then the elevators will give up completely and take you down to the ground floor, whereupon you will have to try your luck again and hope that it works this time. This is a clean and comfortable unit located in a very good location for walking to Waikiki shops and beaches, the Ala Moana Shopping Center (largest shopping center on the island) and many restaurants. Bus stops are near and will take you to many locations on the island.

这是我的第一次Airbnb体验,房东Jackie很热情并且积极处理我们的一些请求,包括提前入住。接待我们入住很准时,对我们吃住行疑问也给了很多建议,期间我们选择当地很方便的公交出行,在遇到路线不明确时向她求助也积极回应。而且位置毗邻著名的waikiki海滩,又是最有名的商业街所在地,购物、吃饭、出行都很方便。 不过这个condo的窗户很矮且没有防护措施,所以不适合带小孩入住, 而且欧胡岛有其他地方所没有的发到的公交路线,甚至深入到北岸一线。收费也很便宜,2.5刀一人,两小时内免费换乘两次。对于像我们一样想深入体验的旅客来说是极具性价比的选择。

We recommend this apartment for your stay in Waikiki. It's close to all the action but it's in a quieter sector. It had a lovely view, pool & gym. It was a good value, good experience.

We’re East Coast (NY/PA/DC) transplants who’ve been living in Waikiki since 2008. We’re both working professionals (Jackie is a contract manager for a tech consulting firm and Matt is a web programmer for a government consulting firm) who love to travel, try new food, and meet interesting people. We currently own three studios in the Hawaiian Monarch building - one is on the 12th floor and the others are adjoining units on the 29th floor which have separate, locked entrances but share another entry door (all studios on the higher floors of the building have this setup). All are fully furnished with one queen-sized bed and are suitable for 1 or 2 people:

https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/5387120 - Small studio on the west (less sunny/hot) side of the building with a canal/mountain view. It has a small refrigerator, microwave and coffeepot but no kitchen.

https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/9150540 - Smaller of the two adjoining studios with ocean/Diamond Head view. Full kitchenette, including refrigerator, sink, microwave, stove.

https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/9709468 - Slightly larger adjoining studio with ocean/Diamond Head view. Also has a full kitchenette like the smaller unit but the overall unit has just a bit more space.

Our goal is to provide a clean, comfortable space at a reasonable price where our guests can relax after a fun day enjoying the beach and exploring the island. Since starting on Airbnb in February 2015, we have met many wonderful people from around the world and look forward to helping others enjoy their time in Waikiki.
