Doug is a very friendly and responsive host and he welcomed us warmly.
Correspondence with him was easy and efficient.
Doug also kindly organized a driver to pick us up from the airport.
My husband and I were comfortable in this cozy, spacious, light condo in the lively town of Cabarete.
We found the apartment complex to be a safe, clean, friendly, well-run community-oriented place. No matter, if you seek quiet and privacy or like to hang out with others, the international residents there are kind and inviting. Wonderful pool and cared-for courtyard with many lounge chairs.
The kitchen is well equipped, the beds comfortable and there is lots of storage space. The apartment was tidy and clean and the furnishing is friendly and colorful.
This is a new listing on AirBnB, but we found mostly everything to be working well. Doug was quick to respond, if we had a question or an issue.
While we have traveled extensively, we had never been to the Dominican Republic. If you are not familiar with the country, it's good to know that things can work inconsistently. One might have a brief power outage or no water or WiFi for a couple hours. The lovely staff works hard to solve any problem that might arise within the apartment complex.
There were, as is probably typical in the D.R., some smaller plumbing issues.
The location of this apartment building is rather ideal: Although it's not immediately on the ocean and doesn't have a view of the water, it is just minutes to the beach and just 5 to 15 minutes to a broad variety of restaurants and shops.
The supermarket is further, but still just a 20 minute walk. One can also take a taxi or a "Guagua" (the minivans or cars that pick up and pile in people along the main street of Cabarete for about 50 cents).
Condo 240 makes for a nice home away from home.
If you are not looking for luxury, but a safe, cozy, inviting vacation apartment, we recommend Doug's place.
