À propos de ce logement

In a wild 1 acre garden, this split level house has the feeling of a retreat. With immediate access to lovely walks and 5 mins. drive to the Loch Insh Outdoor centre, ideal for summer (cycling, horse-riding, safari park) and skiing in winter. We now have a local house-keeper who will provide bed-linen and towels (so the price reflects that now) and she cleans the house, though it's helpful if you keep it as tidy as you can. NO SMOKING plse

Le logement

This house is our 2nd home (and is equipped as such) where we try to retreat to it from our busy lives in Glasgow as often as we can. The kitchen should have anything you need, including tea-bags, herbs etc. We only want to rent it out enough to cover running costs. Plus we hope to put a hot-tub in at some point. Our friends have commented it does have a Scandinavian feel to it (probably because of the pine floors and pared-back decor). We have recently installed 40 meg fibre broadband and a 50" Ultra HD LED TV to give our visitors the option. We have better quality family time with the TV and wifi switched off and have made more memories and had great conversations in this house. There's plenty of space for two families (4 adults and 6 children). PLEASE NOTE that I've changed the advert from 10 to 8 to reflect the fact that 10 adults would be too much of a squeeze (much reduced floor space in the bunk rooms due to the trundle beds) although drop me a line if you don't mind that! Finally, it's got great access to cycling and walking routes in the area.

Accès des voyageurs

Not suitable for wheelchair access unfortunately. Space for 2 cars and the garage can be used to secure a car (if you move the table-tennis table out the way) and bikes, skis, kayaks.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

We are available on our mobiles as we live in Glasgow. But we have contacts in the village if necessary for assistance.

Autres remarques

Please note that on arrival the house's storage heaters will already be on but can be boosted by using the electric heaters as, if you are checking in later in the day, the storage heaters may be generating less heat as they kick back in the following morning. The open fire is useful to make the upstairs living room cosy. See the house instructions which I will email, for info on extra baskets of wood.

We are a family of five who are also outdoor pursuitists and nature lovers. The house and its location matched our requirements exactly. We walked in the high mountains, cycled in the beautiful glens and at Wolftracks MTB park near Lagan. We strolled down to the beautiful Loch Insch from the house through the woods and over the railway bridge. The lads even swam in the Loch! We enjoyed the Potting Shed for coffee, cake and the birds-We really liked the nearby wildlife park- The Hungry Haggis fish n chips were great. However, we preferred catering for ourselves back at Julies house which was so cosy to be in. The garden has beautiful mature trees that frame the glimpses of the Cairngorms behind them. We whole heartedly recommend this place!

Just back from a terrific couple of days staying in Julie's house in Kincraig. It's very comfortably furnished and refreshingly minimalist. We booked last minute after chickening out of camping and it made our long weekend much more comfortable and enjoyable. Julie was very responsive and informative in our exchanges. If you're looking for a base for outdoor activities around the Cairngorms I'd strongly recommend.

We (a group of 8 guys who meet up every Mayday weekend) had a great stay at the house. It was very clean and bright, plus there was plenty of room for everyone. We ended up arriving in 4 cars from various places in Scotland (and one from England) but there was plenty of room to park on the road outside as well as the space on the driveway. There is a garage with a table tennis table which we made good use of! We tended to cook in the house rather than eat out - if there was one thing the house could do with more of, it would be a few more pots! Easily rectified. We also got a pizza takeaway from Aviemore once night. A few of the guys hired bikes from the nearby Loch Insch Watersports centre - plenty of other activities available there, although I wouldn't bother with the bank fishing option - a very limited beat heavily used by canoes and various other watercraft scaring any fish away! There is easy fishing at the nearby Rothiemurchus fishery - very scenic as these places go. Lochindorb is a 40 minute drive into slight wilderness for the wild fishing experience. Waders essential. Seems warmer temperatures would help too! 9 degrees too cold for these fish! We also drank plenty of great real Scottish ale at the nearby Suie bar and played pool. A few of the guys ventured down to the beach on Loch Insch, which is very nice by all accounts. A couple of the guys also visited a wildlife park in the vicinity. The house would be a great base to climb the mountains in the region, although we were too lazy/old/hungover to attempt a mountain!

We had a fantastic week at the house. The views were amazing-especially the osprey nest on the island. The girls loved playing in the 'wild' garden and we really enjoyed being able the walk to the water sports centre for food. We had a great Thursday evening listening to the folk music in the pub. Top tips were feeding the wild reindeer (the children) and the amazing mountain bike trails (grown ups)! Ps the reindeer and safari park are free if you have a Blue Peter badge...

Hi I stayed with my partner and a group of our friends who are all outdoor enthusiasts. The house is in the best location for access to the wonderful area. Well equipped, very comfortable with great places to sit and socialise or relax Julie's place is an excellent find. Having a utility room for wet kit just by the door was a huge benefit as we are Winter snow and ice climbers. The shower was hot with great pressure and the beds were really comfy. Julie was super at communicating and the emailed instructions were spot on. Thank you very much Julie and please keep the love tree - potential guests reading this will have to go and see for themselves to understand:-)

We had a lovely time at the cottage in Kincraig. The house was clean and tidy and beautifully furnished. It has all the amenities you can need, games, DVD's, WiFi, etc. We all enjoy the weekend and we will certainly go back. Julie was very attentive and gave us great advice about the area. Wonderful living room with great views over the lake during the day and a nice fireplace at night, we could have sat there all day.

I'm a retired IT Project Manager with 3 kids, a dog and a husband and we all love the outdoors. My motto is to 'make memories and make enough of an effort for it to be burned into your brain'. That stretches time for me. Plus, for therapy, I love cooking. It's becoming a bit of a thingy, but this house is good for (what's the scottish word for hygge? I think it's 'coorie-in' time!) when you get the fire on, the heaters on, the blankets round you and the blether is in full swing. The best nights we've had are with the telly off, the gadgets off and we just chat, make a meal, listen to music and relax. There's plenty of restaurants around but we end up eating in a lot. My other motto is "keep it simple". Life is too complicated these days!
