Casa Luna Verano is a comfortable, spacious home on an acre of land in a quiet, country neighborhood just ten minutes away from the Sonoma Plaza. There is a beautiful pool and patio area with enormous outdoor daybeds for lounging. It's a perfect base for exploring Sonoma wine country with the Carneros and Kenwood regions within 15 minutes. Note: Pool is solar heated and generally a comfortable swimming temperature from late April through mid October (dependent on sunny weather).

Our comfortable home is located on a quiet country road that alternates between olive groves, vineyards, farm fields and residences. It's a perfect place to relax and enjoy a little sunshine yet it's incredibly convenient to everything that wine country has to offer.

The pool is surrounded by oak trees, lavender, Catalina Cherry Trees, Manzanita and golden raspberries. There's a pool pavilion with an enormous day bed sectional, perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine or reading a book, once you've had enough sun for the day. The back patio is perfect for al fresco dining with a view of golden grasses, hundred year old oak trees and the eastern mountains framing Sonoma Valley.

We wanted to sleep well in our home, and you will too. One bedroom has a Keetsa eco-friendly king size bed with memory foam, the other bedroom a pillowtop queen size sleigh bed. (Note to European guests: these are US mattress sizes, King= 193cm x 203cm; Queen= 152cm x 203cm). Both feature high thread count cotton sheets, feather pillows (foam available on request) and double cell slumbershade blackout shades, to help ensure you have a quiet and dark bedroom as long as you want to sleep.

There is a full kitchen including refrigerator, microwave, electric range and dishwasher; full set of dishes, pots, pans, glasses and barware. You'll usually fine basic pantry items as well (oil, seasonings, etc). If you use a pinch of salt, no need to replace it - but if you bake a cake, please replace what you use from the pantry!

NEW Nov 2016: We take feedback from guests seriously and use it to improve our property. We've installed a brand new high-end dishwasher, new shower valves and refurbished the BBQ grill. A washer and dryer are now available to all guests.

A high BTU propane grill is available on the patio. The formal dining table has seating for 6, though you can squeeze in 8-9 if you bring wood chairs in from the patio. There is high speed Internet, and speakers in the kitchen and dining room with a plug for ipod/ipad/android phone and a flat screen TV in the living room with basic cable and Showtime. See notes about Sonoma's noise ordinance in the "House Rules" section.

• Sonoma town square is a ten minute drive (20 minutes on bicycle via the Sonoma Bike path) with fantastic restaurants, wine tasting, shopping, and the historic Sonoma Mission.
• Well over one hundred wineries in Sonoma, Glen Ellen, Kenwood, and Carneros within a 15-20 minute drive.
• Great hikes for all levels at Bartholomew Park, Jack London State Park, Sonoma Valley Regional Park, Annadel State Park, and Sugarloaf Ridge State Park, also within 15-20 minutes.
• The Fairmont Mission Inn, with a fantastic spa atop a thermal mineral spring.
• Nine art galleries on the Sonoma Gallery Walk.
• Four full-service grocery stores within a ten minute drive.

Access is via a keyless (code) entry system. You have access to the entire house including 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, kitchen, living room, dining room, pool, pool pavilion, outdoor patio and yard. Guests may use the detached garage for indoor parking. There is a storage shed and several owners' closets are not available and will be locked.

We will have everything ready for your arrival and will provide a keyless entry code to enter the house so you can arrive at your convenience. We'll be happy to provide recommendations or answer questions about the property or the Sonoma area either before or during your stay via email, phone or text message. Typically we will only come to the property if there's an issue that cannot be resolved by phone. We also have a local contact who lives a few minutes away who can assist if something urgent arises.

This is a large country property with a swimming pool, uneven steps, pathways, tree stumps and other trip hazards. The immediate area has fields of rye, wine grapes, olive trees; there may be noise, pollen or other disturbances from active agricultural work in the vicinity. Guests agree to take responsibility for their own safety as well as the safety of their children, pets, and guests of guests.

We ask that guests treat our home as if it were their own and be very respectful of our neighbors. When you check out we ask that you please load the dishwasher. We don't expect the house to be spotless (you are on vacation!) but please clean up. An additional cleaning charge may apply if the kitchen is left with dirty dishes.

We are on a septic system which means only human waste and toilet paper may go down the drain. Absolutely no paper towels, feminine hygiene products, moist wipes, or anything else.

Additional Guests? We can provide an Aerobed Queen mattress and linens for up to two additional guests; each guest is an extra $25 charge per night. Additional unpaid guests are not allowed regardless of where they are sleeping.

Stays over one week may be subject to an additional cleaning fee.

No pets allowed without prior agreement; we will consider well-behaved dogs. Note that our yard is only partially fenced in. Guests shall clean up all dog waste, assume all responsibility for damage and liability caused by their dog, and agree to not leave their dog alone at the house. There are dog friendly wineries and hiking trails nearby so please plan to take your dog with you.

Pool Amenities - What You Must Know

The pool is heated from solar collectors; on sunny summer days, the pool temperature will range from 85-90 degrees (F). The pool is generally not a comfortable swimming temperature from October through April; our off-season rates reflect this and we regret we cannot provide a credit if you find the pool temperature uncomfortable.

Use only plastic barware at the pool - there is a marked cabinet in the kitchen. Please keep wine bottles and any other breakable items at the pool pavilion.

The pool cover and pool light switch are on the back of the house; The pool sweep must be removed from the pool and stored in the pool pavilion prior to swimming and returned after – see detailed instructions in the house manual.

In the pool pavilion, there is a large sectional daybed. The pillows for the daybed are in one of the deck boxes immediately adjacent to the daybed. Underneath the daybed are umbrellas and pool floats. All of these items must be returned to their original location prior to your departure or an additional cleaning fee may apply.

Renters agree to the following rules:
• You agree to take responsibility for your own safety and actions and the safety and actions of any others who you permit to access the pool (including those who may access it as a result of you leaving the cover open). You indemnify the owners from any liability related to the pool during your rental.
• The pool must remain covered anytime that you are not actively using it and you agree to store the pool cover key inside of the house.
• No lifeguard on duty. Swim at your own risk.
• No diving - diving is unsafe as this is a shallow pool.
• Children are allowed to swim or play in the pool only when adults are present and maintaining constant supervision . Babies of diaper age must have plastic pants or suits.
• No pets in the pool.
• No amplified sound in the pool area (per Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance)
• Walk slowly in the pool area. No roughhousing, dunking, pushing, or wrestling.
• Keep the area clear of clutter, debris and toys.
• All persons entering the pool should be as clean as possible. No persons deeply covered with suntan lotion or bath oil are allowed in the pool.
• No swimming at night, in rainy weather, or in thunderstorms.
• No bottles or glass near the pool/water area.
• Keep cover on the pool whenever the pool is not in use.
• Pool cover must be completely opened prior to pool use.
• Renter must notify owners immediately of any repair the swimming pool may require.

The house was gorgeous and as advertised. There is plenty of space inside the house and the outdoor space is lovely; the pool is wonderful and immaculate, and the shaded couches were great for sitting outside in the evening. I would definitely stay at the house again. Michael and Kraig were wonderful hosts. They were very communicative and highly responsive and included a bottle of wine as part of the welcome package. In addition, they were very helpful and understanding when I mistakenly left my wedding ring behind at the end of our stay, and returned it to me in person.

If you are planning a trip to the sonoma/napa area, I highly recommend Michael and Kraig's home. There were wineries all around as well as many independent tasting rooms. The pool area itself is worth it. While some reviewers have said that the place is "dated" that is not the feel or vibe we got at all. Yes it's not as modern or newly renovated as some places, but all the necessities plus more luxuries are available.

This place is amazing! While the house is a bit older, it has been decorated beautifully and stocked very well. The backyard is magnificent. It's huge; we chose to forego wine tasting simply to hang by the pool. Plenty of room for activities on the two lawns if you have kids. Great patio area and BBQ for summer nights. Can't wait to go back!

This house is spacious with beautiful outdoor areas. The hosts were available by telephone and very responsive. The kitchen has every type of dish, cookware and glassware one would need to entertain friends. Well furnished bedrooms and private baths make for a very comfortable stay.

We had a lovely time staying at Michael & Kraig's home! We were greeted with a bottle of wine and nice note-- which was above and beyond what most hosts do! The house felt huge compared to our small SF apartment and we loved having the open space! Michael and Kraig were great at communicating throughout our stay. We really appreciated the wonderful hospitality!

We had a pleasant stay this past weekend. The house was exactly as picture. It actually exceeded our expectations. Michael and Kraig was great with the communications. The outside of the house was really nice, we really enjoyed the master bed and the dining table. I'm sure the pool and the yard would be nice if we had the chance to use it. Too bad it was raining this past weekend. The only things that I would like to comment is that the bathrooms and the kitchen is a little dated. We had trouble using the microwave and the kitchen sink garbage disposal didn't work. Other than that our group really enjoy our stay.

Michael and Kraig were absolutely fantastic! They assisted in recommending different wineries and restaurants in town and were accommodating to our needs. I appreciate their hospitality, and their home was absolutely beautiful. We had a wonderful time enjoying coffee and breakfast on the patio! I would highly recommend their home.

We are longtime San Francisco residents who rebuilt our home there from the ground up in 2012. More recently, we fell in love with Sonoma during the many visits we made for wine tasting, hiking, biking, and visiting friends. And now, we're pleased to share our homes in both locations with you, our guests.

Michael is an interior designer focusing on residential remodel projects and has worked with numerous clients to realize their dreams for the home. Kraig works in technology for a San Francisco-based clothing retailer.

In both homes, we strive for furnishings that are elegant yet feel comfortable sharing with friends and family. One of our favorite things to do is to cook for groups of friends and you'll find our Sonoma kitchen outfitted with just about everything from cookware to staples that you'd need in support of a great meal. Although our dog is no longer with us, the Sonoma property is set up perfectly for a dog (or a human) to enjoy lazy days in the grass and sun.
