Family friendly married couple, seeking to create memories by inviting guests into our home. We enjoy meeting people, learning new cultures and about different countries and traditions. Rods from Australia, Evelyn is from Papua New Guinea. We love Cairns tropical environment and happy to share our knowledge with guests.
We love AirBNB and have been inviting guests into our home for the past two years and have met so many wonderful people travelling this great country. We have had over 50 groups through and dozens of individuals and really know what you need and do our best to provided it eg tourist information, bus timetables, toiletries, beach towels, sunscreen, airport transfers, maps, books, bush walks, waterfalls, lookouts, family spots etc.
Rods been a tour guide with National Parks and Wildlife Service, is an Ecologist, international Community Development aid worker and teaches sustainability and knows the bush and its wildlife well.
He often takes guests spotlighting at night in search of wildlife (for a small $10/head fee). He is also a PADI diver and has dived the reef as well. Rod bought an old fishing boat that he is fixing up so if you like fishing I'm sure he will take you for a spin if you fill his fuel tank. Evelyn knows the shopping centers, cafes, restaurants, discount stores etc that Rod never goes too. Together we have cairns covered and happy to provide our local knowledge to guests.
We have a camper trailer and love exploring the Australian bush camping with the family. We travel all over the place frequently so have plenty of good spots we can share.
We love people and will try and assist in any way possible to help you have a good time. We often also take our guests to and from airport if we can too (just $20/ trip).
In between guests, work and camping trips in National Parks, Rod teaches sustainable gardening in Permaculture, Aquaponics, composting, worm farms, black solider fly larvae etc from our home.
