A very comfortable place to stay away from the bustle of the city.

Great experience especially for those who want to get a sense of "village" life in Kenya but with nothing lacking in terms of the modern comforts of home. Waking to the family roosters, touring the amazing property and it's abundant vegetation, feeding the goats is just the start. Spending time touring the beautiful countryside and buying some of the freshest fruits and vegetables you will ever find and getting to know the incredibly friendly locals really makes this an experience to cherish.

Nick has a lovely place. I was born only about 10 kms away and my wife and I are newer (since October 2016) Airbnb hosts ourselves at our home 150 kms away on the outskirts of Nairobi. We were visiting our rural home and we wanted to compare our experience with Nick's especially because his is a more rural place than ours. We were very happy. We found the listing very easily, partly because we have known the general area for decades. It took us only two telephone calls to locate it. For non-Kenyans, just trust the map provided by Airbnb and you cannot go wrong. We had told the caretaker, Ms. Waithiegeni, that we would love to check out her cooking. She did not disappoint. We shared a lovely meal after a very good conversation with her and Nick's grandfather, a perfect custody of local history, who dispenses it with unmatched generosity. It rained heavily that night and he was sure we were bearers of blessings; even after breakfast, we got a rainy send off. We had a comfortable night and we would use the listing another day. We recommend the listing to anybody visiting Mt. Kenya region of Kenya, which has magnificent tourist attractions of worldwide fame.

This was a great getaway budget friendly spot for our large family. Although we never got a chance to meet Nick his family were gracious and wonderful hosts!Nick was readily available via phone call or (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) was like he was there. We were met with Nicks mum in Karatina town who guided us to the house.Once at the house she helped us settle in by guiding us through the house and helping us locate where everything was. Then Pauline the sister took over by helping us make dinner. Then Mama mwaniki was our local guide to getting everything we needed be it running a quick errand to the store or finding the salt. She was always available without being in our way. For our large family we were quite impressed not only with service and care of everyone but also the living arrange ments. We comfortably slept 10plus 3 kids.Nicks grandpa graciously gave us a tour of the coffee farm as well a little history about the family. The children comfortably warmed up to him as their "new" found grandp. The place is not awfully far from the town attractions and Nick also arranged for private transportation(for an affordable extra fee) .We enjoyed a visit to chaka ranch and Nanyuki but because of time we could not explore all the places suggested by Nick.I highly recommend Nicks place for your family's getaway.Truly felt like home away from home.

We had a nice stay at Vemidas House. It is nicely spacious, we were just 3 people. Veronica came to pick us up from the main road and prepared a nice meal for us. Relaxing time!

We had a wonderfull time at Nick's place. Nick was a very warm and welcoming host. We had nice and interesting conversations that learned us a lot about Kenya and its culture. Nick and his family also made a typical Kenyan dinner for us which was very tasty. And in the morning they made us pancakes! We very much felt at home! We would definitely recommend Nick's place as a stay-over close to Nyeri!

Absolutely amazing experience and just what we were after! I stayed with my wife, young baby and two other friends at this immaculate home with the most welcoming hosts. We were first arranged by Nick to meet with his cousin Veronicah who directed us and met us at the closest centre and from there we were welcome by the most amazing family. The house was perfect, four bedrooms with two beds in each, hot shower, flushing toilet, kitchen to use and large living room area. As well as being within a very peaceful environment, which is a nice escape from the town environment that we are all used to. We would 100% recommend this place to other guests, especially good if visiting Chaka Ranch or anywhere in the Mount Kenya/Aberdare region. We all stated that it was one of the highlights of our trip staying in this delightful home with even more wonderful people. We all want to go back when time allows :)
