Description

A lovely historic cottage on the Rosneath Peninsula. This cottage, built in the 1890's for Princess Louise, the 4th daughter of Queen Victoria, has recently been restored to the highest standard.

Situated in the historic village of Rosneath, the cottage has views of the Firth of Clyde on one side and Gare Loch on the other. You can take a walk on the beach, walk to the village where you will find a modern grocery store and a couple of restaurants. It is a perfect spot for a solo traveller or a couple who are visiting the area.

Guests would have access to the entire cottage with guest parking nearby at Ferry Inn.

The cottage shares parking with the Ferry Inn where the owners live. They travel extensively and may or may not be available. If they are in residence, they would be available to answer questions and are helpful in providing information regarding the area.

The peaceful holiday resort of Rosneath is a popular tourist centre offering visitors the opportunity to try a wide range of watersport activities. There are several gardens in the area including Glen Arn Gardens and Linn Botanic Gardens. The village of Arrochar which is about twenty minutes away is a popular gathering place for mountaineers. Arrochar is one of the main gateways to the Argyll Forest Park. The village is set among some of the most beautiful scenery on the Cowal Peninsula. The Park includes the Arrochar Alps whose munros offer some of the best climbing in Argyll: Ben Ime and Ben Arthur. There are also several gentle forest walks throughout the park. Thirty minutes away is Loch Lomond noted for its glorious colours and dramatic sunsets. There are several famous golf courses a little over an hour's drive away: Royal Troon, Turnberry, and Loch Lommond.

There are great transport links nearby. In Kilcreggan, a short distance away is a foot ferry. There are bus stops in Rosneath with regular buses to Helensburgh where there is a train station. Taxi service is available.

The cottage is in a quiet residential area and is a lovely setting to view activity on the loch.
