The best seafood in the world can be enjoyed here in La Paz and it doesn't have to be expensive. There are amazing taco stands where you can enjoy fish, shrimp, mantaray, marlin, octopus, lobster, etc. etc., all in a taco. Our beaches, although out of town, are really beautiful. Don't miss out on snorkeling or kayaking if that is something you enjoy. Scuba diving and fishing are also popular. We also have a beautiful island that you should visit if at all possible. Espiritu Santo Island, accessible by boat is a wonderful day-trip. We send our guests with the best tour company and the best guides. Ask us if you are interested. We highly recommend it and guarantee it will be a highlight of your visit to La Paz.

I'm a native of Northern Humboldt County, California, USA but I've lived in La Paz for 37 yrs. I was 21 when I met my husband, who is a La Paz native and I've been in La Paz since 1981. We have always had an adventurous life together and have been able to travel a lot. We raised our two children together and when they went off to college, I started renting out bedrooms in the house we'd lived in for 25 years at that point. That was around 2008. After one year of running Posada Colibri as a Bed and Breakfast Inn we took over the operations of an apartment building which we had built ourselves and decided to run it from then on as a Bed and Breakfast also. That would be The Las Gaviotas Resort. Both places are located in an old neighborhood near old downtown La Paz, in Lower Baja, Mexico. This city was established over 500 years ago by Hernan Cortez himself, but that is another story that we can talk about when you stay with us.
Just so you know me a little better I can tell you that my husband, Gonzalo, and I used to run a lot for exercise and we have always enjoyed bicycling, swimming, kayaking and all other outdoor activities and sports in the area. We own motorcycles and are in a riding club. We also own and fly helicopters just for fun and are members of a local aviation club. We are also members of a community club called "Los Madrugadores " which translates as: The Early Risers. I also took up kite-boarding a few years ago. I figured I'd better get on it if I wanted to learn while I was still healthy enough to enjoy it.
In our hospitality businesses we strive to give personal attention to our guests and frequently enjoy conversations with them during breakfast as all of our rooms are rented with "a complete breakfast included". As our guests, you will very likely be greeted by us and I will also be fixing your breakfast as well. We try to be helpful in answering any questions guests have about the area or in helping them arrange for the activities they wish to enjoy.
Posada Colibri is an interesting house in a great location from which to explore the city. It was a wonderful place to raise a family and now it is working very well as a Bed and Breakfast. Its not at all fancy nor formal but you can expect to find a very clean and comfortable accommodation. We offer enclosed parking and the use of the larger swimming pool at Las Gaviotas Resort to our guests at Posada Colibri as the two places are just a stones throw apart. We live in an apartment at Las Gaviotas Resort and although our staff members may answer the bell at the desk, we are usually around to personally answer any questions or take care of any issues that arise with our guests.
My personal hobbies are spoiling my chickens so they'll lay more eggs for breakfast and puttering in my garden, which is located a few blocks away from Posada Colibri. I couldn't live without dirt, so I had to make an above ground vegetable garden and make my garden soil because there is almost no soil in which to garden in the desert. Not to say that the desert isn't extremely beautiful. It is and I love it. I also like sewing, cooking and building all kinds of stuff. My husband jokes that he's always tripping over my half finished projects, but he's just kidding because I finish a lot of them, its just that I do have quite a few. My inspiration ebbs and flows, or maybe its just that so many things interest me, from baking to beehives etc, etc. I often remark that its just too bad we have only one lifetime. There are so many interesting things to see and do, one is just not enough.
Welcome to La Paz and to your Baja Adventure!
