The Sticna Abbey is the only operating Cistercian monastery in Slovenia and one of the greatest cultural, church and architectural monuments here. It dates from 1132 or the Romanesque period. The monastery soon became the religious, church, cultural and economic centre of Carniola. Before the reforms introduced by Emperor Joseph II, the monastery’s library kept the valuable illuminated Stična manuscripts in Latin, dating from the 12th and 13th century. In 1428 an important manuscript for Slovene linguistics was written at Stična, one of the first texts in the Slovene language. The monastery complex changed its appearance over the centuries. The oldest part of the monastery remains preserved in the cloister and abbey church. In 1784 the monastery was abolished following the Josephine reforms. The White Monks returned to Stična in 1898 after 114 years away. They continue their centuries-old tradition in the Cistercian spirit of Ora et Labora. The Stična Abbey remains one of the oldest spiritual and cultural centres in Slovenia.

'Jurjeva domačija' at Občine 11 is one of the most interesting cultural attractions in the Trebnje Municipality dating from the middle of the 18th century. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the town of Trebnje. It comprises of a residential ground floor house, partly masonry-built and partly wooden with a 'black kitchen', 'hiša', 'kamra'
and 'štibelc' rooms; all these rooms have well-preserved interior fittings. The pigstyes, granary, well and floor have also been preserved. Everyone is welcome to visit this homestead on the edge of Suha krajina, which demonstrates well the lives of our ancestors.

Otočec, which is famous for its romantic castle on a small island in the middle of the Krka river, also offers many other things to visitors. Numerous sports facilities are available; the Castle Park and nearby forests offer plenty of possibilities for walks and slightly longer tours, certainly one should not overlook the Krka river, where you can spend your free time boating, fishing or relaxing to the sound of water gently pouring through the dams. If you are a lover of golf or want to become one, in the immediate vicinity of Otočec castle there is a golf driving range.
For those who love entertainment, there is Tango restaurant which, besides delicious dishes, at weekends also offers dancing to live music as well as a discotheque and casino.
Otočec is 6 km from Novo Mesto and with its location situated half-way between Ljubljana and Zagreb it is an excellent starting point for daily trips to each of these popular tourist places respectively.

Novo mesto - The old city core of Novo mesto, situated on a promontory in a bend of the Krka River, is enchanting with its aristocratic Glavni trg square with arcades fronting the ground floors of rich townhouses and its characteristic City Hall. The Chapter Church, the Franciscan Church, the Dolenjska Regional Museum, and the Jakčev dom Gallery are also worth visiting, and the view of the remarkable row of Na Bregu houses—the most picturesque part of the city core—reflected in the Krka River below has often been depicted by painters.

The Krka river is one of the most interesting karst rivers, and its 94 kilometers make it the longest river entirely in Slovenia. It springs from the Krška jama Cave at 268 meters above sea level and flows into the Sava River near Brežice. The Krka is particularly attractive for fishermen and kayakers.
Krška jama, in which the Proteus Anguinus cave salamander lives, is 200 meters long, easily accessible, and illuminated. Krka Cave is a horizontal cave, more than 200m long and up to 30m wide. The cave ends with 30m long siphon lake. Regulary shaped rocks from the ceiling. The grounds are covered with rubble and large boulders heaping up all the way up to the ceiling. A visit to Poltarica Cave, which is partly (180m) illuminated with acetylene torches, is possible only with experienced cavers. There are numerous atalagmites and stalactites, siphon lakes, etc.

The Dolenjske Toplice spa resort - After the water analysis results were unveiled in Vienna, Dolenjske Toplice emerged as one of the most renowned health spas in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Dolenjske Toplice has been a reputable health spa resort for centuries. With its extensive range of modern swimming, health and accompanying services, it draws guests from all over Europe. Its development was based around thermal water, which was first analysed as early as 1777, and its medical benefits.
The construction of the first bathhouse – one of the three thermal springs was enclosed by a wall and roofed – was commissioned by Prince Johann Weikhard I von Auersperg as early as mid-17th century. Hotel Vital, still prominent today, was built between 1767 and 1776. This princely Tuscany-style building had three swimming pools on the lower ground floor and 28 guest rooms on its two main floors. After the thermal water analysis results were unveiled in Vienna, Dolenjske Toplice emerged as one of the most renowned health spas in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The Princes of Auersperg had the spa renovated several times. In 1899, Hotel Kristal was added. Having undergone a change of ownership at the beginning of the 20th century, the health spa was taken over by Krka Pharmaceuticals, based in Novo Mesto, in 1973.

Ljubljana is the capital of a state, but it is small and pretty, easy to get around, and full of surprises. While during winter it is its dreamy central European character that prevails, during summer it has a relaxed Mediterranean feel to it. It is remarkable for its rich tradition, youthful vibrancy, cultural creativity, feel for entertainment, and numerous green spaces.
Ljubljana has preserved evidence of all the five millennia of its history, including, among others, the remains of the Roman city of Emona and the old city centre with its medieval castle and beautiful buildings with Baroque façades, decorative portals and uneven roofs. Other significant bits in the mosaic of Ljubljana are its picturesque bridges across the river Ljubljanica and its vast Tivoli park, stretching into the very city centre.
In the second half of the 20th century, it was the world famous architect Jože Plečnik that put an indelible personal stamp on his native city, and the so called Plečnik's Ljubljana ranks among the 20th century's most prominent total works of art. Ljubljana's appearance was further shaped by Plečnik's pupils and a whole new wave of renowned young Slovenian architects.
Ljubljana is a vibrant centre of creativity where cultural activity has become a way of life. It boasts one of the world's oldest philharmonics. Each year it host more than 10,000 cultural events, from prestigious music, theatre and art events to those pertaining to alternative and avant-garde culture.

Bled - Slovenia has only one island but its uniqueness makes it more attractive than many an archipelago. Sheltered by picturesque mountains, the island reigns in the middle of an Alpine lake. Its charm has made it a symbol for centuries of a town to which guests from all over the world love to return. This town, which has already existed for a thousand years, is BLED.
On the island in the middle of the lake, the ancient Slavs worshipped Živa, goddess of love and fertility. Pilgrims later came to the church of St Mary on the island. A thousand years ago, on 10 April 1004, the town of Bled was mentioned for the first time when the Holy German emperor, Henry II, gifted it to the Bishop of Brixen. At that distant time, a Roman tower already stood at the top of the cliff rising vertically 100 m above the lake, and it still forms part of the mighty castle that now houses a museum collection. The town flourished in the Middle Ages due to pilgrims, and these were replaced in the 19th century by the first tourists. The Swiss hydropathist, Arnold Rikli, discovered that the gentle climate and the lake and thermal waters are a source of good health and well-being. The local people supplemented the health spa offer with guest houses and hotels.
The town, already famous at the beginning of the 20th century as the most beautiful health spa of the then Austrian empire, attracted the European aristocratic elite. After WWII, one of the most attractive state residences of the former regime was located in Bled. Many of the world’s most important people thus enjoyed the beauties of Bled. And now, for decades already, the pilgrims of the new age have been discovering this town.
Cosmopolitan seekers of diversity and beauty, of relaxation and inspiration, tranquillity and the challenges of sport will find here a multitude of opportunities. Walking and coaching trails around the lake, traditional boats, ringing the island’s wishing bell, the castle treasures, the nearby ski pistes, mountain trails, golf courses, hunting, fishing, the casino, congress facilities – all these are but fragments of Bled’s attraction, which is truly worth experiencing. And those who experience it, long for it again and again….

Bohinj - Bohinj is a valley that stretches from Soteska to Ukanc. On the south side, it is enclosed by the Lower Bohinj Mountains, which rise to 2.000 meters, and on the north by the Triglav mountain range with Mount Triglav, Slovenia`s highest mountain (2864 m).
Bohinj is divided into the Upper and Lower Bohinj valley. There are twenty-four villages in these two valleys. Bohinj is one of the most beautiful places in the heart of the Julian Alps and in Triglav National Park.
The natural beauty of high mountains, green forests, and beautiful mountain pastures and meadows, the cultural and historical monuments, and the friendly villages and towns with their hotels, restaurants, inns, and private rooms guarantee visitors a pleasant stay in Bohinj.
Bohinj is an ideal starting point for day trips, for walks on the trails that run throughout the valley, and for mountaineering and climbing tours and offers ideal options and opportunities for rest and relaxation in all seasons. In winter the valley becomes a winter sports center, while during the summer the most beautiful pearl of the valley, Lake Bohinj, invites bathers, and with the Sava Bohinjka River, kayakers and fishermen as well.
