Giacomo is an excellent host. Long before we left for Italy he kindly agreed to have a blender on-site for breakfast smoothies. New in the box. He arranged our pick-up at the Pero Metro station--having a few bags with us--and his friend, Roberto, gave us the tour. Giacomo visited us the next morning to make sure we were well situated, and we enjoyed his advice. The apartment had "breakfast" items waiting for us: boxed milk, croissants, coffee, bottled water. (The water in Milan is not tasty, so everyone drinks bottled water.) The photos represent the apartment except there is another "twin" bed in the living area, which didn't really get in the way and was perfect for an afternoon nap. And there's a balcony off the bedroom with a clothes-drying rack. We used it daily. All appliances worked, although the refrigerator door must be pressed firmly to close. There are a lot of storage cabinets throughout the apartment and high-quality towels. Cleaning people came more than once during our 4-night stay, which was not necessary, but impressive! The neighborhood was quiet during the day and parks were active at night, perhaps due to the oppressive heat. We found organized musical events two nights while there--a "Beatles" band in the park under the white tent; and at Pero metro the seniors had a live band for dancing. We missed buying at the local market, which probably closed at 7pm, due to our late schedule. Nonetheless, there is a gelato store nearby, a lovely cafe, and several restaurants of different price ranges. We enjoyed the seafood restaurant Pesce Boccone, even though the locals turn their noses up in disdain. Lol. For groceries and fashion (who goes to Milan without looking for clothes I ask!), Giacomo sent us a few Metro stops away to a shopping "mall" where we had a great time trying on clothes, eating, and drinking. This was my first time in Italy. I was able to find enough English-speaking people to get from A to B to C. Metro and trains work well and are affordable. Which Metro tickets to purchase daily was confusing to us. Do homework in advance and ask questions of the station manager. Please be warned: mosquitoes are aggressive in Milan! I got the local pharmacy to sell me 30% deet spray after we got chewed-up at Expo the first night. In summary, this apartment was fine for us--near Expo and less than 10-minute walk to Metro. Giacomo was super responsive and generous with advice.
