Craftsman made Shepherd's Hut accommodation in the picturesque Motupiko Valley near Nelson, New Zealand. Experience classic rural lifestyle block living at its best.

The Shepherd's Hut itself has a comfortable soft double bed, small seating area and storage; it is insulated and has multiple electric sockets. There is a dedicated bathroom in the Motupiko Hall building, with toilet, hot shower etc. Cooking facilities are in the Camp Kitchen (ie. Double Gas Burner, Fridge, Sink, and Gas Barbeque outside). The water supply is the purest of spring water sourced directly from underground.

The hut is situated within the orchard; there is ample outside space for sitting, dining etc.
Our adjacent paddock is available for guest parking and private access to the property.

The owners of the property will be on site during the duration of your stay.

The Motupiko valley is situated on SH6, South-West of Nelson City which is about 45 minutes away. Motupiko itself is in the heart of the farming community; sheep, dairy, beef, berry and hop farms are all in the close vicinity. In 2016, the Nelson Cycle Track is scheduled to run out towards Tapawera - once it's through the Spooners' Tunnel you'll be cycling right to our doorstep! We are finding that many of our guests are choosing to stay with us because of the unique, charming Shepherd's Hut, the natural beauty of our rural landscape and convenient location for travelling between South Island destinations. Please note that our convenient location on SH6 means that guests should expect some traffic noise during some peak travelling times.

There are lots of animals at Motupiko Hall; Wiltshire sheep, Gracie the rescued feral goat; friendly dogs and lots of poultry.

The Shepherds Hut is refreshingly different and definitely has the Wow factor! Emma and Giles have created a wonderful idyll for their Guests to enjoy. There is an abundance of livestock most of which is roaming pretty freely, and a wide variety of homegrown produce which Emma kindly offered as an addition for my homemade meals in the fun size kitchen 'tardis '.Delicious freshly laid eggs , lettuce and fortunately for me the only tomato! Every little detail has been thought of and stylised so your stay is very comfortable and clean. Will miss my hug with Gracie who is the adorable goat. Thank you again . Highly recommended to other guests.

Charming little place to stay with lovely personal touches. Sitting out in the garden/orchard in the evening was just beautiful. The cabin itself was secluded and private. We were welcomed by friendly and helpful people, who provided us with fresh produce from their garden.

We had a great stay at Emma and Giles' Shepherd's hut, it was beautifully finished with lots of lovely touches and had one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. The orchard, garden and fields surrounding it are such a great and peaceful setting. The kitchen cabin had everything we needed to prepare meals and the extra treats of fresh eggs, apples and lettuce from the garden were a lovely bonus. We had a very relaxing stay and left wishing we could have stayed for longer. We would definitely recommend a stay at Emma and Giles' place!

Amazing place !! I absolutely loved it. Those are beautiful shepherds huts located in a lovely farmland, around chickens, a rooster and a duck, some apple trees and just a lot of quiet. It was such a relaxing getaway. Having the chickens and rooster as the background sound in the morning felt so soothing. Gilles and Emma are very friendly and welcoming, making sure you are having a great time (warm cookies fresh out of the oven to go with my cup of tea were a real delight!) and they definitely put their heart in what they do. I couldn't recommend it higher. A must do when in the area :)
