À propos de ce logement
The apartment is located in the very heart of Genova, around the corner from piazza Sarzano's metro station, three minutes' walk from piazza De Ferrari and the Porto Antico. The apartment is on the first floor and it's very luminous as it overlooks a little piazza. The area is dotted with coffee shops and great little restaurants, beautiful churches full of masterpieces, museums, typical markets and food shops, bars with inviting dehors where to sip an aperitif before dinner.
The apartment is composed of one bedroom with kingsize bed, living room with a sofa bed. The bathroom has a bath tub with shower. Note: If the sofa bed is used, it's better to close it in the morning to have more space to move around. The kitchen is fully equipped with oven, gas stove top, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, washing machine. Many utensils and small appliances and pots and pans for those who like to cook. If you don't or don't have time, you can order one of the best pizza of the area at the pizzeria right downstairs or try farinata (Genova's specialty, made with garbanzo bean flour) or tasty vegetable tortas (also a few steps from the front door). A few steps in the other direction you can buy for breakfast or snack the best olive oil focaccia in Genova (it's addictive)!
There is no internet access in the apartment but many cafés and stores in the vicinity have free wi-fi. My favorite is Mentelocale in the palazzo Ducale. (There is also a wonderful/affordable buffet restaurant in the palazzo Ducale).
The apartment is conveniently located mid-way between the two main railway stations. Bus lines and two metro stations are close by. The airport is 15 minutes away (euros 6 with Volabus). It's easy to reach the best places of the Ligurian Riviera from Genova (Varazze, Camogli, Sestri Levante, Cinqueterre) as well as Piemonte's wine country. Note about car access and parking: there is no private parking. The apartment is in the center of the historical center so (limited) access to the area is reserved to residents. There are parking garages nearby (piazza Dante and piazza Carignano) but they are rather costly. An alternative is to park the car (for free) a bit more towards the periphery (a good option is near the Staglieno area) and then catch a bus to the center. The train is a more convenient way to travel to Genova (both stations are within walking distance and serviced by metro/bus).
Italian, French, English, Portuguese spoken.

Échanges avec les voyageurs
I will interact mostly by phone or email as much as needed, as sometimes I am not in town. Neighbors, assistants and friends are available in case of need.
Please make arrangements to arrive no later than 6pm for key pick up. After business hours and on week ends reception may entail an extra charge.
My apartment is decorated and kept with love and care. I love my guests to feel at home and to treat them with a basket of fruit or something similar when they arrive. They will also find some basic supplies in the kitchen (which I'd like them to replace before they leave). I request them to treat my home like their home. They can use the equipment available in the kitchen and the washing machine. Manuals explaining the use of appliances are in the kitchen. If you break something, please buy it-so your deposit won't be used.
I expect my guests to be mindful of the usage of water, gas, electricity, heating as they are very expensive. In the winter there is an extra charge of 5 euros/day for heating expenses.
In the kitchen, make sure to turn off the stove when you are done cooking and to put the heater in the off position when you leave the house.

Hello, my name is Nelly. I've lived in Genova, Italy until 20 years ago and then I moved to Los Altos, California in the San Francisco Bay Area. In Genova I owned one of the most traditional food specialty stores: Torte e Farinata Antica Sciamadda. In the US I have been teaching Italian cooking and culture for two decades and lead culinary tours in various Italian regions. My passion is to cook, preferably with others. So, if interested, I can teach guests a few things during their stay. Another passion is "home". I love to make guests feel at home and create a "home away from home" for them.
