Summer sees plentiful fresh fruit and vegetables. In spring there are abundant oranges, mandarines, lemons.
We live in a rural area approximately 2 hours drive south from Auckland. Our home is contemporary with a definite seaside feel. We are just meters from a tidal estuary which is very safe for swimming & kayaking.( kayaks are available) There is a hot mineral swimming pool & spa in the next street, a beautiful 8km surf beach within a 6 minute drive, & a lovely little seaside village with interesting boutiques & cafes. Closer to home our walkways are beautiful, along Pohutakwa lined grass areas. Playgrounds within walking distance. Our home will provide you with a relaxed & comfortable stay in a very unique part of The Bay of Plenty.
Our added attraction is the most beautiful Karangahake Gorge. Just 20 minutes drive away. There you can cycle or walk the many trails, enjoying the river & its waterfalls and cafes along the way.

We are a semi retired couple with 7 children between us & 10 grandchildren . Our children are spread out between Canada, Australia, Scotland, Waiheke Island & Auckland.
We are originally from Auckland.
The 5 things we couldn't live without are: travel, food, wine, our dog Jonty & our Grandchildren. Oh and of course, we couldn't live anywhere else but Athenree.
We have travelled more than some but not as much as many, enjoying the Pacific Islands over the past few years. Our most memorable trip was to London & Scotland to visit family a few year ago.
Our motto is to Enjoy every day. Be happy, don't let the small stuff get you down.
We love to have people to stay & have enjoyed friends and hosted visitors many times. Most memorable. A teacher from France who stayed with us for almost a year. We became her "parents" & helped her through a pregnancy & birth of her first child ..that was 16 years ago & we are still in touch with her , her husband & 3 lovey children..
