THE FRONT ROOM
We would love you to stay with us in our spacious two-story home. We have two rooms available (with two people in each room). They are booked through separate Airbnb listings.
The Front Room:
Your light and airy bedroom with a comfortable queen bed is down stairs off the hall. The freshly renovated guest bathroom with separate toilet is off the same hall. The dining room, kitchen and laundry are also on the ground floor. Our bedroom and bathroom are upstairs so you will have a measure of privacy. There are bathrobes and a hair-dryer for your use.
We also have a studio room separate from the house with double bed if you would like more privacy. It is just a metre from the back door. You will need to come inside to use the freshly renovated guest bathroom. To book this, go to the separate listing at the bottom of this page - "Sunny Studio, close to town, WIFI".
Free parking is on the street outside the house. It is a busy well-lit street.
We provide a continental breakfast and you have access to the kitchen. Just around the corner are cafes, restaurants, a pub, takeaways, a minimart, off-licence, hairdressers, money machines and the Penthouse – a multi-screen art-house cinema. You have the use of a Weber BBQ on our large deck.
Note: we are not set up for babies or young children, no matter how sweet.
With its reputation as the cultural capital of New Zealand, Wellington is a compact city, perfect for walking round. Brooklyn is an inner city suburb – it is just a short fifteen-minute stroll down through Central Park to the vibrant Cuba quarter and another five minutes to the jewel in Wellington’s crown – the waterfront. You can drive in three minutes or catch a bus from the stop right outside the door.
From the airport, grab a cab or shuttle (cheaper). We are 3 km from the ferry or train station - take a taxi or a bus which will drop you outside our door. Most of the time, I can pick you up (fee may apply).
Smoking outside please.
We mix art and science: Joan teaches science at a secondary school. I am a television producer/director and theatre producer. I have had a long career making television programmes, specializing in the arts and documentaries.
Our two boys have left home. We enjoy tramping, cycling and kayaking. Travel is another passion and we appreciate travellers’ needs.
I work mainly from home so will often be around to answer your queries or share my love of the city. However we are busy people and will generally leave you to enjoy your stay.
