Description

Le logement

Spacious house in downtown Ottawa with a new kitchen, hardwood floors and a quiet garden. This house answer to our philosophy as we can walk or bike to groceries, outdoors activities, museums, theaters, restaurants, even Parliament!

There are two bedrooms, including a very big master bedroom (it used to be 2 bedrooms) and a nursery. The basement is also finished and can be used as another bedroom - there is a sofa-bed inside and it's very bright. If I had to present our house I would say, without exaggeration, that it's a lovely place, very well located in a beautiful area without traffic noise, in front of a park, with charming neighbors.

There is a large park across the street, and within a few blocks we have a swimming pool, shops and grocery store. Only a 15 minute walk will take you to Ottawa's Byward Market, one of Canada's oldest and largest public markets. Within an area roughly six square blocks, you'll find museums, cafés, specialty food shops, boutiques, galleries, restaurants, pubs, hair & aesthetics salons and more! Near the Byward Markey you'll find Canada's Parliament, the Rideau Canal, our National Art Gallery, National Arts Centre and much more. Walk another direction and 10 minutes will take you to the Rideau Falls and the Governor General's Residence.

Ottawa is unique for it's outdoor activities. The city is criss-crossed by beautiful bike paths and surrounded by green spaces. A number of National Parks are within a short drive from Ottawa, welcoming hikers, canoeists, cyclists and campers. Ottawa is only a 2 hour drive from Montreal, offering immersion in Canada's French culture and access to its festivals running all summer long. If willing to drive 5-6 hours, Ottawa's central location also offers a great take off point for visiting Québec City, Kingston, Toronto, and the Niagara Region.

My partner and I stayed for a week with our new baby at this charming home and loved it! It was very well organized, pretty, clean, and contained everything we needed - including, in our case, a change table. Sophie had sent us a very useful info sheet ahead of time so we knew how everything worked in the house, and could find interesting things to do close by. The house is also very well located. It's a 15-min. walk to ByMarket, and easy to access by car. We would never have been so comfortable in a hotel, even a 4-star one! We would definitely recomend this house to any visitor to Ottawa, in particular those looking for home-like comfort.

My wife & I (and 18 mos child) stayed at Sophie's while I had a conference. It's well laid out and very good location for families. There's a swimming pool a couple of blocks away and a playground a short drive away. There's a Loblaws a few blocks away & a small organic grocery over the St. Pat's bridge. Most of Ottawa's museums etc was a few min drive away. I was able to walk to the convention centre in about 15 - 20 minutes. There was a lot of local support too, via their next door neighbours and Nic's dad. Would definitely recommend it. ps I'd recommend PLAY for lunch if you're in the market.
